Alot of things not working

Hi, I installed beta7 on a shared server last night and every thing seemed to go flawless on the install. I installed it on a sub domain for testing. Ny host is yes 1&1, and yes I know alot of the ray media stuff doesnt work well on a shared server. But its only for testing. Aside from the obvious issues with shared servers.. I have run dolphin 6 on the same servers without too many issues. what I'm seeing right now is Orca isnt working at all. as well as groups and a few other things.. when going to groups or even forums I get 404 page not found errors.. even the admin panel for these gives me the same issues,, I installed all the modules without receiving any issues with them. when I point at the links or menu items for these I see a driectory link in my status bar referencing  beta.jabfrog.com/m/groups/ same thing for events and store.. beta.jabfrog.com/m/events/    beta.jabfrog.com/m/store/  orca message boards Im assuming references the correct link at beta.jabfrog.com/forum however when I click to go to the boards I get a 404 page cant be found just like the groups events and store does. if I'm missing something hope someone can give me an idea of what..

Check to make sure that your php configuration meets all the requirements for Dolphin.  Also makes sure that you are able to use Apache module mod_rewrite.

Again, check all your configuration settings as laid out in the installation guide found on this site.

Are you on a shared Windows or Linux server with 1&1?

Also check your .htaccess file and replace with original if necessary.  Mine got trashed on one of my installs and caused similar problems.

Hi ZopfWare Im on a shared Lnux server with 1&1. I had tech support from 1&1 go through php configuration with me and they say everything should meet the requirments for running dolphin7 beta. The only thing I cant do is to install the RMS server software.. and that Im not to worried about. They did have me create and upload a php.ini file along with the installation package, until I did I was having problems getting alot more things than these working correctly.  What gets me is Im running Dolphin 6.14 on a shared Linux server with the same host provider with no issues at all.. jabfrog.com.. well other than the normal ray media issues do to no rms, but like I said thats not to big of a deal for me. If I wasn't able to use Apache mod_rewrite I would think I would be seeing alot more areas causeing the same issues. I have all permalinks off in admin, with them on, alot more area do give me the phantom /m/ directoy issue.. but I noticed there is no where to turn permalinks off for the areas I am having issues with.

CalTrade I did have a issue with the .htaccess file on a first atempt to install beta2, I had curuption issues with alot of files, but that was my fault I was having conncetion issues the first time I went to ftp the install package, so I deleted everything removed the mysql data base, created a new one and reuploaded the pakage and started over. It doesnt mean though I may not still have something curopt somewhere.. there are .htaccess through out the package, aside from the one in the root directory, what else should I look at.

A couple of other things to look at... Check your error_log for your site and see if there are any interesting things being reported in it that might give us a clue as to why you are still having problems.  One of our servers is a 1&1 Dedicated that we provide shared hosting on that we have custom configured for Dolphin. We found that some of the permissions requested by D7 needed to be changed.  (like 755 instead of 666)

If you could pm me the output of <?phpinfo();> I might be able to compare it to what we run on our 1&1.

Let me know what you find out.

Zopfware I been trying to send you the info through your contact button in your Unity prfile. I type out the message and select send and it just wants to sit there saying sending.. if you have another way for contact such as gmail or something I'll glady send it that way.

microwheel,  did you install D7 using a binary upload?  It is not the default in Filezilla, and can be the cause if you have a bunch of seemingly unrelated problems.  I don't think they made this as clear as they could have in the installation instructions.

Hi Caltrade I use Wise-FTP version 5 and tod it to use binary upload on the last attempt to get things working right. Everytime the install process goes perfect.. when I go to install the modules these ones always fail on the first atempt when I select the install all option (see list below) then on the second atempt to install the ones that are left, they all say install seceeded.. and show up in the extensions area with the exception of the wall and whiteboard, even though the whole monule list says installed, however these same modules, below, are the ones that dont work.. along with the Orca forums...

The modules don't all install on the first attempt because some of them require other modules to be installed first.  That is why most of them install on the second attempt - their precursor modules have been installed.   I don't know why some of them don't work but you are certainly getting closers - I think that binary transfer trips many people here up on the first install attempt.

I also have problems installing some modules in 7B4;

This is the order I succeeded;

First try - Modules which are installed ;

Then I manually chmod the dirs:
chmod 755 ./modules/boonex/avatar/data/images ./modules/boonex/avatar/data/tmp

Then tried and succeeded to install the module avatar
Avatar version 1.0.0 by Boonex

Then I tried the remaining one per one untill they succeeded:

Events
Membership

Again from top to down:

Groups

And then no other remaining got installed:

Then got a look into the config files (./modules/boonex/modulename/install/config.php) for dependencies and permissions:

desktop : messenger is needed, write permission on file dir
files : nothing needed, but write permission on file dir data/files
forum : nothing needed, but write permissions on classes, conf, layout, log, js, cachejs
-> still not succeeded
photos : nothing needed, but write permission on data/files
Profile Customizer : nothing needed but write permision on data/images
Profiler : nothing needed but write permission on log/profiler.log
Sites : Needed the photo module, no permissions needed -> tried again and succeeded
Store: Needed the avatar, forum, payment, photos, videos, files modules -> tried again, not succeeded (forum still not installed)
Wall : needed the avatar, photos, sounds and videos modules -> tried again and succeeded
Whiteboard (board) : needed the photos module, tried again and succeeded

Still remaining the Orca forum and store modules, store will succeed if forum gets installed

Tried forum once again, but still failed

Then I noticed I didn't checket for XSL to be installed on my test server, it wasn't : sudo apt-get install php5-xsl

Then tried again, forums = ok and store also ok after forum ofcourse

I had the same exact issue. I looked at my .htaccess file and it was blank. I replaced it with the correct file from the boonex zip file. It now works.
