I have installed Version 7. Afterwards I created some test-Accounts. The last thing I did was using the menu builder, created some new field items and rearranged the menues.
After this the password of each account was invalid (also from the admin after relogin). I requested a new password. But the password I got in the email is not valid too. I always get the message "Your username or password was incorrect. Please try again". I see that the hash of the password in the database changes every time I request a new password.
What shall I do to get the accounts working again?

This problem was in some earlier Betas ... please make sure that you are using latest Final version, and it is clean Dolphin 7.0 final install, or correct upgrade from clean RC install. Clean install I mean install from the scratch to the empty directory. Rules → http://www.boonex.com/terms |
I did the exact same thing today: Added some new profile fields, changed them around.
When I restarted my computer after that, and went to log in again, I could not log in as admin OR any user.
In other words, exactly what the user "Webmaster" said above.
I read your reply, AlexT...but I waited until the "Final" version 7 to have it installed, and it was installed by Anton. A clean install to an empty directory. So it sounds like the problem that was with "some earlier Betas" is still here.
I really don't want to reinstall, and if this is the "Final" then would that do any good anyway...so I am hoping that somebody knows the reason for this, and where I can fix it. I cannot get into my site as admin or a user, but I can certainly change things in the database...or in the files on my server.
Anybody know why this happens...it sounds like this is a known thing, so I have hope somebody knows!

the series of events that happens when you try to log in, and how
adding extra profile fields might change something that would cause it
to not authenticate the passwords? I wish I knew the mechanics of that, or which tables to fix, etc.

this might work but make sure you have a backup of the database
in db
sys_profile_fields click on browse
delete all the fields you have created

I downloaded the final version. The installation is a clean one (filesystem and database).

Can we hear from Boonex on this?
I did as "prolaznik" suggested...actually, I downloaded the Dolphin 7 installer, and then opened the file that sets up the database, and read down every line looking for anything I might have changed. Only 2 tables (Profiles, sys_profile_fields) did I make changes. So I went line by line and edited each field in the database to match the original. I am sad to report that this did nothing. Still no passwords work, so I cannot get in to my site, nor can anyone else.
I appreciate the idea from "prolaznik", nice try, but...could we hear from Boonex regarding this? Do you know what the problem is, have you been getting this question a lot, are you working on it, do you have a solution (or if not, how about a temporary solution to get us back into Dolphin at least, even if we are told not to make new custom fields until the reason for 'custom fields causing lockouts' is found)??

Okay, so I am able to login as admin, the password works...and I can login as other users. Whew! That was scary.
I checked the file 'inc/classes/BxDolPFM.php' as the 'ticket'
discussed. It had the new value at line 62 (40). I changed all of the fields in my
database to their defaults. I cleared all caches (in dolphin, and in my browsers). Somewhere along the way it was fixed. So now that everything seems okay, I will have to be careful about customizing how I want my fields set up.
So
while this bug was in first RC, and supposedly fixed...apparently it is
not. So until it is fixed, I guess we have to be extra careful about
changing any fields in "Builders > Profile Fields" or in the
database. If somebody knows exactly which fields or values cause the
error, please let me know. Otherwise, it is a ticking time-bomb. I
won't know which changes are okay to make.
If anyone finds the exact problem, I'd love to know.

might have something to do with a bug to add add "new_item" with an error that says the item already exists? When I receive this error the database and delete the table "profile" the field "new_item" (the only way to continue adding fields. |

Salt
Role
Please make sure that you didn't add above fields in page builder.

How did you clean the cache folders? If from admin, that will not be enough. Do it from cpanal or ftp and empty cache, cache_public and tmp leaving only the .htaccess file.
Also, what version of PHP does the new server have. Dolphin uses a cookie function that older versions of PHP does not support. You need at least php 5.2. Any thing older and the cookies will not be set which will also cause the password problem.

Yes i have emptied the cache & cache_public folder from the ftp, i can't login to admin panel when i try to access administration link it says can't find member profile i thought its .htaccess but still no good.

yoursite.com//administration/ under no conditions i am aware of would return can't find profile unless the /administration/ directory is not there.
My only guess is your site was not properly moved. Missing files, improper database restore. To many possible problems to even being to guess.

I didn't see any other errors in the site, it may happen with eaccelerator i tried to configure or something.
Anyways i am doing Apache Update again with latest Apache & Php version and opting out eAccelerator, lets see if it works.
Transfer was completed successfully same files size, everything worked just fine, i will let u know after the update.

this happened to me today too after making two fields not mandatory in the join form (city and zip) no one was able to login luckily i had a backup that was two days old deleted the profiles table and replaced it with old one and things are back to normal now.

By any chance did you use the word "role" or "roles" - in a profile field? - I am pretty sure that is the name that completely destroyed my set up in one of the betas. I assume this had been fixed before. Try to remember the name of the last profile field name you added, and post it here. |

add fixes and mods: phpimage, paragraph spacing issue, auto friend on join... working ok! (2 weeks ago)
yesterday i went for the fix for the custom html block and added like 7 blocks in different pages (blog view, article view, news view, photo view, etc.). It seemed to be working fine.
I did notice 2 windows poping up after pulling the html block from bottom to the right or left colum this confirmation or message popus where 1st one blank, 2nd one had a OK! message alone... i guess it was normal because the switch i did for the html block that remove the tinymce from the Simple Html Block, so i didn't care about that.
Today... i cant login with my admin user, did Deanos reset admin tip, went to mysql change role 3 to 1 then to 3 and not workin, upgrade a normal user to admin and he can login, change my pass via admin panel and still no luck for my admin (did clean cache).
Im going to reset the Simple Html Block code and see if this helps.... (this did happened to me using v7.0.2 and this was one reason for me to upgrade asap)

UFO360 help me out and at the same time in my test site I notice that overwriting the old install with the clean files from the downloaded zip 7.0.3... did fix the problem. But now i have to reinstall mod by mod and check if any of them is a problem.
Fixes and mods i had:
birthday block Birthday cron mail RPX/Janrain Login(Facebook,Twitter,Myspace etc direct login) - sneha (this does connect but cant loging to same account without using it. or is it supposed to work like that???)

I thing you did something wrong on the RPX mod and that's why any one in your site can't login and giving you Invalid username and Password

We are facing the same problem after upgrading from 7.0.3 to 7.0.4 .
None of our member logins are working. only the admin login is working.
Any inputs would be appreciated.

I did all this but still we are facing the below problems.

I upgraded to v7.04 and cleared all caches several times.
After the upgrade no profile can be viewed as it always displays " not sufficient permisisons."
Also I have created some dummy profiles and users before upgrading. Now, the really interesting part is that when I tried logging in with some of the usernames and passwords , I was able to log into the accounts without any problem! using Deano Tools. But when i tried to login from the main homepage it is always giving wrong username or password.
I am not able to Login to any of my dummy member profiles i had created for testing. Except the admin no other login is working.
Also the profile is not getting displayed.
I am not even able to register a new member.
One more thing thier are similar tables come int he database one with the small letter and one with a capital letter.
Please do help me. our site is on our local university intranet.
the site is heaviliy modded and changed.

Same problem here. I'm on 7.0.6
I can go to www.mysite/administration and log into back end, but if I use my admin password in the login on index page I get the popup (warning blah,blah....) I didnt change password, salt, or role.
if it matters any, I cleared the profiles table and reinserted from backup

I was having the same issue. Someone said something about the Antispam, which I did add my own custom stuff to.
So... I went to
Admin->Tools-Spam->Antispam Tools.
Deactivated everything except...
b.barracudacentral.org cbl.abuseat.org sbl.spamhaus.org
And I can now login again. BTW, I'm using 7.0.7

Hey, is there any updating of this problem now? I once faced this problems and fixed, but i can't remeeadmber how!! These days i face again this problem and can not fix until now. I never did profile field modifications and only change page_compose sometime. I'm trying to find out the problem, and I found that function validateLoginForm() in the Login Form can not read correct ajax response "OK" from server when login. Does anyone notice this and know why?
I don't think restore database or clean cache is a good way to fix this problem, reinstall is too bad. We should focus on this problem because this may occur at anytime.. Thank you!

I am having this same problem. I had deano do a fresh install of dolphin and he is able to log in to admin without a problem on his computer. I can NOT log in on mine....However, I tried to log in on a different pc that I have it it was able to log in without a problem.
I am still not able to log in on my main pc and this is very frustrating. If it were in the coding anywhere then I, nor Deano would not be able to log in on other computers.
Posting this here in hopes someone will be able to come up with a fix.

Fixed for me. I completely uninstalled one of my firewalls and now everything works.
For the record. It was CA Security Suite.
