Hi Anton! :)

Im afraid im a little lost regarding your search plugin.

I have over 130 different profile fields (eye color, hair color, ethnicity, weight, etc.
However, your plugin says it can only use 4 of them. How can I add more?

Thank you! :)

...And where do I find it? I don't see where to add the advanced search block on any page..

(P.s. I edited the BxDolProfileFields.php per your instruction) :)

AND.. ;)  Does your "Saved Search" Plugin work with this as well?

Sorry, I'm not sure that I understood you. Where it says that it can only use 4 of them? It applies to all fields of a Selector and Multiple Selector types of fields.

...And where do I find it? I don't see where to add the advanced search block on any page..

You can find it in [admin panel -> modules > advanced search form]. But it doesn't allow to add any blocks on any page. It just modifies the look of select-like fields on a Dolphin's default search form which is at /search.php page and on a homepage as a quick search block.

AND.. ;)  Does your "Saved Search" Plugin work with this as well?

Yes, sure.

The module applies to a Selector and Multiple Selector types of fields only. So ensure that you have any selector/multiple selector fields besides those four. For example, if all of those fields are just text fields, then the module makes no sense for them.

If you can confirm that you have more selector-like fields than those 4 then provide us please with your server access details and we will find the problem.

Yes. I can confirm that almost all of them are select or multiselect. :)

I have sent required site login details via email :)

User Error!

Anton pointed out to me that I never added these fields to the search form! :P

Another moment of utter brilliance for me!

Hi Anton, I'm running into the Boonex weakness of effective search and looking at your module as a possible solution. Our members want to search our content (articles, blogs, news, events) and not so much the other member profiles. Would this be a good solution? Probably not? What other solutions would you have? We're noticing for example that an event is not showing up when actually using the event name, in the current Boonex 7.2.1 version.

Thanks much, CHOPS

Hi CHOPS,

Probably not. Because this module alters only profiles' search forms. We don't have any other search related solutions. As to events - may be you have some kind of customization there which blocks that, or something else (wrong privacy setting may be), because out of the box events search works just fine in Dolphin 7.2.1, checked a minute ago.

Will this work with your Self Manageable Dependent Fields module? The Self Manageable Dependent Fields module is an excellent add on, but its a little lacking searching. For example, I have a dependent field models based on makes. But if the user wants to search just Ford for example without picking a model it would be perfect. But the way it is now, he must pick a make and a model.

Unfortuntely no, because of the way Self Manageable Dependent Fields module works/loads up values at dynamic. However we can do a custom modification for you that will add an empty values for the dependent fields on a search form.

I'm also interested in combining Dependent Fields and Advanced Search. Any chance you'll be modifying Dependent Fields to have an empty value option? Or could you tell me what changes I would need to make to set an empty value on specific fields?

I don't have a site I can give you access to at the moment and I'd really rather learn how to do it myself.

Unfortunately the customization depends on the modules' settings. It is easier to do rather than to describe how to do. So it would be better if you'd provide us with server access details when you have one so we could quickly implement that modification rather than us spending a lot of time to describe what/if/when/where/how to modify.

Does this mod allow us to edit the searchkeyword.php page? (the search bubble on top left of a basic dolphin install)

No, it is for People Search page (search.php) only.

Can we add more supported form fields?

thanks

 For example?

Currently it supports all selector related types - dropdowns, dropdown multiboxes, checkboxes.

Hi,

In a picture of this page: https://www.boonex.com/m/advanced-search-form

I see, supported form fields: Sex, looking for, Country

example: customization fields like "native language".

As I already mentioned the module supports all selector fields. So if you have a custom field of a selector type - it will appear there.

In other words this is not a fixed list of supported fields. This is a list of all selector-like fields available on a site.
