Ads images issue changing to other images

Hi,

I wonder if anyone has come across this problem?

My ads mod is having some sort of issue with new posted ads. Every time a new ad is posted the last photo of that ad ends up being a photo from a different ad.

This only started when the site had more than 140 ads on it. But I dont know if its an issue on my end or Dolphin???

I'm sure its something to do with the automatic numbering system of the photos which i assume was put in palce to avoid such problems!

If anyone has had this problem please let me know how you resolved it.

Also, when editing an ad, it will only show the first 5 or 6 photos on the edit page so then I cannot delete the last one, I have to delete all of them before I can delete the last one which is a nightmare. Maybe the template can be edited to make the photo thumbnails a lot smaller so that the fit or move to the next line.

Thanks

I would suspect the cache system first, have you cleaned them?

I had something similar happening to the member's picture before.

Basically i would upload a picture for my profile, but it would upload to the profile of someone else....weird!

I think the problem was that i had 2 Dolphin's installations running at the same time, did you made more than 1 install?

Edit: What Php version are you currently running? Did you maybe update it recently??

Hi,

Newton, yes I always clear the cache and nothing changes!!

Test102, I only have one Dolphin install on my site and I'm running php 4.3.10. It may have been updated by the hosting company actually. I didn't realise an update can cause this!7

I also noticed that when I add less than 10 photos it doesn't happen and that when it does happen, the number sequence on the last photo is totally different to the sequence on that ad and its first 10 pictures. Its like its just picking it up from nowhere!

Maybe its because there are more than 10 photos but I don't remember seeing a setting to restrict the amount of photos allowed on the ads. When you add them it allows as many as you like! This could be the problem too, even though i haven't a clue how to fix it! Maybe there is a restriction and when you go over it it just ads random photos!

Thanks for your replys.

Not  sure on the other things, I do know the default amount of files to upload is five, on all uploads

This is also set in php.ini too

Thats interesting...I wonder why i can upload unlimited?

I think the ads module needs serious amounts of work!

I will check out that file and see what it says.

That probably explains why the edit ad page only allows you to delete the first 5 or 6 images. I have to keep deleting the lot in order t reach the last one!

Thanks

If your on a shared host, you will not have access to it.

Usually php.ini settings are about 20 uploads at once, so your system will look like it is uploading all the photos but really just the five allowed.

I even notice if I have a limit on size, let's say 50MB files, and try to upload a 51MB file, the upload process shows it uploading.. but obviously it doesn't because of the php clamp down.

I hope I have not confused more than help.

I had many issues once i followed the automatic suggestion on the interface, to update my Php version to the latest release, the only way to make it work again, was to downgrade to the previous version again.

Maybe bringing in an exorcist or calling the poltergeist's home service would have worked too, but i preferred to go for the easy choice....i hope you will find the right trick that works for you too Wink

Thanks for your help guys but I cant stop thinking thst I did something to cause this.

It has been working fine for many months, I will find out if we had a php upgrade though!

If we are only allowed 5 pics then why does it allow me to add more! Surely there should be a point when it says no more photos can be added to this ad!!

I have added lots of pics at once before and as long as the resolution is ok then its fine.

I am not talking about the photos mod, I have this uninstalled. Maybe this could be the problem!!

Thanks

What I mean about a five files, you can only upload "five" at a time using the flash method.

My php.ini is set for 20 files at once but Dolphin seems to only allow the five at a time, not "total"

You can put as many pictures you want on a ad, just not all at once.

Can you look under your "host tools" in the admin and look at your results, do you see anything that stands out?

Thats not the problem though Newton! I'm not that loopy!!! Cry

Its always been outdated and i never had a problem. I asked the server people to do an update a year ago!!

This is something new and i haven't got to the bottom of it yet. Everyday i discover new issues!! I'm pulling my hair out!

I messed about with the template and sorted out the issue of not showing the photos on editing page. Dont ask how though!!!

Well that explains a bit.. this could all be template related.

[edit] easy check for that though is to change to UNI, clear cache, and see if the problem is the same.
