Admin Password Change - Defect??

In D7 Beta8, Has anyone tried to change their admin password from within the admin panel? I tried several times and got "Wrong New Password" no matter what type of password I tried.

But...... If your go to your profile from within the site and edit your profile, you can change your password there with no problem.

Anyone else wanna give this a try to verify it's not just me?

Yes man i had the same problem too , so many time and your right when moved to member area i can change it without any prob !

I had the same problem... When I typed in a password that was only letters, it gave the Wrong NEW Password error.  When I put in a new password of letters and numbers, it worked...

I only did this one time, so I dont know if it is exactly a letter vs letter/number issue or not..

I don't think it has to do with a combination. I tried both, letters only and letters and numbers combined. It doesn't work.

The new release of D7 still has this problem. It wouldn't let me change the password. Kept getting "Wrong New Password", no matter if I included numbers, made the first letter capital, etc. Zarcon's solution worked. Shouldn't that have been fixed with the new release?

Ditto to everyone else.  I successfully changed my password once, but now I can't do it again no matter what I try (from the Admin panel).

I am still able to change the password on my Admin account from the public site in the profile.

Mine was the current version.  Downloaded today.  And its definitely presenting the problem.

The changing of the password within the admin panel does work.  HOWEVER, and it's a big however, the password MUST be 7 characters of less.  If it is over 7 characters (or 6 I forget) then the wrong new password error is shown.  The only way to change the admin password to be larger than 7 characters is to do it via the Admin's profile.  I posted on this topic in December and it was ignored.

I still say it needs a ticket (and I'll put one on now).

I think it still goes deeper than that.  In the last few mins I've tried using Admin to change the password to both "1" and "123" (no quotes).  Neither worked.  Went to my profile on the public side, and was able to change it right away.  Went back to admin, still couldn't change it right back to exactly what it was, or to another number, like "2" and "456".

Tried again: used public profile to change password to "1".  Logged out and back in successfully with "1".  Went into Admin, tried to change to "2", "Wrong new password".  Retyped "1" in "old" password, "2" and "2"..."Wrong new password."  Went back to public profile side, changed it to "2".  Logged out and back in with "2" successfully, went into Admin...still can't change password.  Tried multiple other combinations as well, both less than and greater than 7 chars.

Checked in 3 different sites (including admin demo) - works fine with 8 symbols new passwords.

Tried on two different sites - neither worked, regardless of letter combination. Also had similar issue on beta sites.

Issue is this - There is a MAXIMUM of 8 characters!!

My passwords are generally longer than this, why is there a limit???

Sorry - question should be - why is there a limit in the admin panel and not the profile page??
