Much of the default privacy setting are stored in `sys_privacy_actions`. All the default values are defined in each modules install.sql. Boonex has chosen all these default values for us, and has given us no way in admin to override the defaults,
So...Who wants to create an admin module to solely for the purpose of editing the values for the field 'default-group' for all the various actions? Just something to make it a little easier than database diving to change all the default values on all those little selectors.
Sound like a great job for Deano :)

Yes, and in some cases, as I outlined, you don't want any privacy group selected; which forces the members to be proactive in determining the privacy level of their content. Geeks, making the world a better place |

From past experience, I can say with 100% certainty, that's not likely to happen any time soon... if ever. Too many coding changes in too many places. Every single module would need to be changed along with all the forms validations. Things like forcing members to select a value other than null, is a good idea in such things as country selectors and state selectors, so all the members aren't from Afghanistan... or Alabama. In cases such as Events or Groups, it makes a lot more sense to apply a sensible set of default values that are in tune with the nature of your site.
Boonex has always liked media to be public... they can't get that old 'shared photos' concept out of their heads. That's probably why the default photo album privacy is set to public. That's probably OK for some sites, but others might not want to see 'ole one eye' on the front page.
At least if there were an easier way for site admins to edit the preselected value on all those privacy choosers, those boob pictures are less likely to end up on the front page... unless of course, the admin wants them there.

I heard you the first time,
I figured you did. For anything to do with Dolphin admin, your name is the first one that comes to mind. No one else seems to realize that admin enhancement modules are needed.
In this particular case, I can't believe it's not already in admin. A complication is, every time you uninstall, then reinstall a module, the default privacy setting will revert back to what Boonex has chosen for us. In that regard, Boonex should have made default privacy selections part of the module install.
