Additional plugins

How can I find out about additional plugins. I want to be able to make certain parts of the website subscriber based, is this possible 'out of the box' or do I need some customization or plugin?

additional plugins are available for a multitude of additional features and functions. as for subscription based, yes dolphin has that feature, based on custom membership levels that you have established, you can allow certain access to your site based on the set of permissions you as the site administrator has established.
