Active members only features

Does anyone know how to make features such as search, browse photos etc open to Active members only like chat. I have the features closed to members only but after joining no active member (waiting to be approved) can still access features of the site. Or is there a way to lock members out until they have been approved?

For setting permissions, go to Admin/Settings/Membership Levels and choose your active membership levels and set the permissions for each activity on or off for that level.  Click on non-member and turn everything off.  Then go to the other levels and chose what you want to work or not for that level.

To make sure that pending authorization accounts don't do anything, then go to Admin/Settings/Moderation and change your settings so that they are NOT automatically active.  YOu can also turn off their status after they edit profile so you can check for inappropriate content.

I hope this helps.

Brian,

that doesn't seem to work, I even removed the quick search from the homepage, but even not logged in (i.e. a non member)  I can just add search.php to the address bar and still search and view profiles.  What's wrong with the membership levels?

Did you clear your cache?

I have also found that with one browser - chrome - my changes to membership level do not save correctly so I use safari or firefox for those changes (pain in the butt) but other functions work fine in chrome.  I don't know about other people's experiences, but I have found that certain admin functions work better in one browser over another.

Try switching browsers and make sure you clear your cache and see if that does it.

I have turned off access to non members and cleared chache, however when members join and pending approval after the join process theay are taken to their acount page and can use features in the navigatiion such as browse photos etc as they are members. I need to restrict the access to features or site until approved like chat does.

I think you have to go back to dolphin 6.1 because 7 doesnt have that security feature.
