Access Denied to new members

I have new members signing up under the Standard Member privileges. I have an issue where when someone signs up, they can not access the site features. Example: New member, is under the Standard Privileges. He then goes to the File Module on the site to upload a document. He uploads a document, but if he tries to download it, it says ACCESS Denied. This privilege should be under the STANDARD membership. I tried doing this as well with my dummy account and I get the same thing. Thing goes with other modules such as videos as well. How does one go about rectifying this?

This is a new site so I have a few friends joining to help me test it out looking for issues like this before I go live.

Have you checked if Standard member permissions for these actions have been enabled?

 

In the admin panel, go to Settings>Membership levels then look under "System levels" and click on "Actions" on the right of the "Standard" membership level.

 

There you will see if those actions are enabled.
