About allow_url_fopen

Hello. allow_url_fopen was off at default on my hosting plan. So to activate licence I switched it to on. I dont know much about php but it is said that setting allow_url_fopen on is unsecure. Could someone clear me why Dolphin uses an unsecure method? Does setting allow_url_fopen is on just for licence create a security danger for whole site or am I misunderstanding the whole case?

Thanks.

I read the same thing regarding the safety of your server and allow_url_fopen being set to on.I disabled it and all of my feeds stopped working so you definitely have to have it on for some Dolphin features to work properly/ I know this is an old thread but I am wondering why nobody ever answered this question???

Why does Boonex do this and is there a way to disable allow_url_fopen and still allow RSS and other feeds to work?

You're posting in a two year-old topic.

allow_url_fopen is required for this script to work correctly.. You don't need to worry about any security risks with your site, so long as you keep your hosting credentials secure.
