ANY WEB HOST RECOMMENDATIONS?

I'm currently using iPower for my Boonex Dolphin hosting.  The problem is that their MySQL database is EXTREMELY bogged down and slow and they don't allow the Ray Video plugin.

Anyone recommend a good host for Dolphin and if you could give me URLs of current Dolphin sites on that host.

thanks in advance.

For a low cost host, I have been very happy with the performance and support of my hosting company www.alterhosting.com - though they have been attacked by representatives of other hosting companies here.  I have also heard a great deal of praise for www.joombyte.com

I am also looking for a host.  Reliable; existing for a long time (over 5 years supporting hosting); always up; affordable; supports all of Dolphin, Orca, and Ray; provides RMS.

Any one have any specific recommendations?  I didn't see many replies to this post.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, this thread is going to get full of ppl recommending you their host, what I would do is make sure you pick one that works with Dolphin, there are about 4 host on the Boonex/hosting page that work with Dolphin. What I mean by work with Dolphin, is that they have all settings and provide you the RMS connections you require. My previous which I had been with before I found Dolphin read the requirments and said "Yes We Can Host The Dolphin Site" comeabout, I had alot of problems with their setting and they didn't even know what RMS was, so I had to switch. Hope this helps...

Mine does work extremely well with Dolphin. There are alot more than just 4, believe me. :) I have been using mine for well over 4 years and never had a problem... the only problems that I have ran into is usually with the script itself.

Micky b, which one is yours?

I saw godaddy recommended here. I have setup dolphin twice on godaddy and only one worked. Thats shared hosting. I would not try godaddy shared. If it will work or not depends on which server farm you get put on. There are aparently minor differences.

And no, RMS is not provided on godaddy shared hosting.

Now i have not tried godaddy dedicated hosting, but that should work as you should have full control of the server. You should also be able to setup RMS on it.

As far as I know... to be sure you can contact their support ppl and they can give you the complete rundown on it. :)

I have set up several on godaddy and as long as the person setting it up knows that the database isn't set up like most but with the complete url of the database it can be done. Everyone I have set up on godaddy has worked. They do give great customer support as well... but as I stated, I would throughly investigate any service before purchasing the account.

Godaddy dedicated is a little too rich for my blood...anything more affordable you can recommend?

I have to say that I have been very impressed witht he price and service of Jimmy at Dolphininstalls.com That said, I have only just gotten my sites up and running, so I cannot promise future results.

I do know he installed dolphin for me and had me up and running smoothly on two sites (with RMS) in 48 hours for $24.95 per site ($14.95 per month).

That, and he answered all the questions I had about his service quickly and cheerfully.

*smiles*

I'd definately recommend DolphinInstalls too. Hosting is smoothly and everything runs as it should be. He replies fast to any question or problem you might encounter plus it's affordable.

Hello Aeustudios,

One of the greatest frustrations with 95% of all web hosting companies is the fact that they never ever practice what they preach!  They always over promise and under deliver!

Included in the 5% that do under promise and over deliver on value for money and after sales servicing is Arvixe.  They can get you going for under $100 per annum with a web hosting solution that will come complete with a full plugin and play Dolphin 6.1.6.  Additionally, they will offer you 24/7 live chat servicing regardless of where you live; even if you live in Australia, as I do.

Most importantly, if they can't give you an answer to solve a problem relating to their plugin and play Dolphin service, they will go out of their way to find a solution, and always in the very same day. If 95% of the web hosting companies who don't provide these additional services, but still call themselves a great web hosting company; then Arvixe must be an extraordinary web hosting company!

For all those who are asking the question, no I don't work for Arvixe and nor do I get commissions for plugging them in this forum.  The reason I do promote them, in this forum is because in my opinion, any Boonex endorsed partner who does service Boonex customers above and beyond the call of duty, deserve to be rewarded in large numbers of Boonex customer subscriptions.  Afterall, we're all in this game to make money, so the shortest amount of downtime we incur, with the assistance of a great web hosting company, then, naturally, the more money we make.  Don't you all agree? Cool
