A mod repository

We need a place where all the Dolphin mods can be placed.  I see a few places out on the interweb but most are not that active.  The forum is just not that easy to find the mods that are being done; such as the recent mod to change the shoutbox.

You mean the quick file edits on the forums?  Technically, they should all be posted in the Tips, Tricks, and Sharing forum.

Yes maybe so.  The problem was there was no separation out for Dolphin versions and the forums are horrible to search.  DeeEmm had a fairly nice site but he pulled out of Dolphin and that site is now gone.  There are a few others sites as well but there is little or nothing on Dolphin 7.1.  The ideal is to pull together the tutorials and mods into a more coherent entity.

What we are doing with this site is pulling all the little tricks and tips and changes into one place.  If you have made a change to Dolphin and would like to add it, please do.  This will be a boost to the community.  There are a few other sites out on the net for Dolphin but a lot of them have become inactive.

What about modules that work; but the vendor has been banned from here and is no longer selling them.

Can we make a repo for those?

I have two modules that I fixed to work with 7.1.x and I want to share the fixes.

Not if it's:

  1. Paid (non-free)
  2. Uploaded without the developer's permission

Otherwise, I don't see an issue with this idea.

Well, perhaps Jens will respond to some mails I've been sending to FB and mail addresses I have.

I would think should be legal to do, the fixes are YOUR code therefore you should be able to distribute what changes you made to get the modules to work.  I guess it depends if you can list the line that is broken and say, Change xxxxx to yyyyy.

I have no control over third-party sites, but I would likely remove links to sites that host warez, for obvious reasons.

Warez refers primarily to copyrighted works distributed without fees or royalties, and in the case of Dolphin, modules listed as requiring a fee to be paid to use on a site.  We don't host warez.  However, I think some clarification on free modules need to be stated; are free modules released as open source?  I would like to see some feedback from the developers on this.

Freely-released works still belong to the developer, unless otherwise noted.  That said, I'm not interested in taking down an illegal smuggling operation of Prashank's stuff.

Edit: Unless it's his non-free stuff.

I really don't have problem if people distribute my free stuff unless they don't remove the credit and keep it free.
