In the A/V chat there is the ability to have upto 4 simultaneous webcams + your own viewable, for a total of 5 simultaneous A/V streams.
Q1: Is there a way to control the number of cams that a user can view?
Q2: Is there a way to control the number of cams a user can view based on Membership Levels?
ex: a Bronze member can see their own cam and only one other cam.
A silver member can see their own cam and upto two additional cams.
A Gold Member could see their own cam and upto three additional cams.
A Platinum member could see their own cam and upto four additional cams.

Bringing this back to the top of the list and still looking for an answer. |
Hello
There is already a possibility to controld this setting based on user's membership level. To tune it for certain membership level you should go to your site administration - modules - flash apps - Chat - admin, find "Membership Levels Settings" button in the tools area and set "Maximum Video Windows Number" setting for each membership level.

Hi is there a template or script available that will operate upto 8 cams simultaneously |

Ok so I floowed the steps you listed
went to the site admin page
clicked on modules
selected flash apps
looked for "chat" but only see A/V chat as the only 'chat' option listed. There are additional flash apps listed there but the only chat app is the A/V chat (which is the one I assume is the one I need to modify).
I clicked on the admin button and it opens a new chat window entitled "RAY CHAT ADMIN" This is actually a whole chat application. There is a button near the bottom that is for SETTINGS. The Icon is two silver gears. I clicked on that, which opened a new flash popup window with the following tabs:
- General
- Sound
- Fonts
- Skins
- Smilesets
- Advanced
I looked under each of these tabs and could not find anything that said "Membership Levels Settings".
The only place I have seen anything about "Membership Levels Settings" is on the Admin Home Page under the Settings tab wherre it lists
Settings
Admin Password
Change a password for access to administration panel here
Basic Settings
For managing site system settings
Advanced Settings
More enhanced settings for your site features
Languages Settings
For languages management your website is using and making changes in your website content
Membership Levels
For setting up different membership levels, different actions for each membership level and action limits
Email Templates
For setting up email texts which are sent from your website to members automatically
CSS Styles
For CSS files management: to make changes in your current template
So where is this "Membership Levels Settings that you say is under the Flash Apps A/V Chart? I can't find it.
Please help.

Administration > Modules > Flash apps > A/V Chat > Admin
Near the bottom of the admin interface to the chat, there should be a button with an icon of two people. Clicking this button will open up the membership permissions for the chat.

I was also looking for a way to restrict cam use for standard members. I saw the two people icon but after clicking it, it shows an 11 and there are no options of any kind. |
This function is not working in 7.0.6 anyone know why the membership levels do not save in this? |
@ sammie - I'm using 7.0.6, just tested saving new values, and have no problems with this working.
@ vermontjohn - The "Memberships Settings" icon is the last on the right in the group of icons on the LEFT, above the text entry area. Clicking on it should bring up the screen where you can select from Membership levels and then enable options for that level. This includes ability to restrict rooms. Unclicking Audio/Video casting will disable the ability to use a webcam.
@ aerobics - The "Settings" icon you refer to is for a member with A/V permissions to set their mic and camera. It is in the group of icons on the RIGHT, next to the video casting screen. The correct icon is as noted above.
There doesn't seem to be any restriction for seeing an enabled member's webcam according to membership level. Maximum settings are confusing and appear to be restrictions an admin can set site-wide to allocate resources. For instance, the default of 100 is likely unrealistic for someone on a shared server. Changing the number of webcams a given member can view would probably require a code mod. Is that possible Rayz?.

My chat admin in 7.06 wont even load anymore, so I can't even change any settings. I've uninstalled and reinstalled many times, still nothing works. Check out the pic.

have you check your rms settings?
You could try disabling an re-enabling RMS and see if that works.
