my other problem is this, that if i launch my social network today using dolphin 6.1.1 and get alots of members and when i want to upgrade it to dolphin 7 without loosing my users data, i cannot do that? like i will loose my data if i upgrade or i have to do it all again n get the users again? will you give us the option that if someone wants to upgrade the dolphin version downword Or upword.

Its is a really big problem. old users cannot upgrade their old dolphin version? and for new version they have to delete everything and start it again? may i dont know about that option may be you have these options in admin panel but i dont know about it. please help me with it if its possible than please guide me how can i upgrade my dolphin version 6.1.6 to 7?

theres no upgrade for 6 to 7, what you should have done was do a sub domain of the dolphin 7 beta 6 now out its the most stable version so they say to get that one. then tell your members to register to the new dolphin 7, or do it manually.

theres a problem with mass mailing and videos playing "file not found error" they said they corrected this in beta 6, but it's still a problem for me.

so I think in this case dolphin 6 is still the most one to rely on, hope this helps.

what I'm going to do to solve this mass mailing issue is have them register to my dolphin 6 version calling it my news and forums section, that way i can mass mail them, (do this on a sub domain called forums or news) then direct them from there to your website that you really want dolphin 7.

thats what i have planned on doing today at my new domain I'm starting.

www.myspaceandyoutubepaysme.com

there going to signup on www.myspaceandyoutubepaysme.com/news or forums most likely

then tell them to signup to www.myspaceandyoutubepaysme.com/index.php  my dolphin 7 website

you can have two index pages in the root direct, one called index.html the one you made up for direction of

witch website you want them to signup to first and then the index.php your dolphin 7 witch is upload to the main

root direct. the root direct is at public_html part of your files cpanel if you didnt know.

I hope I help people on this dolphin 7 problem

I'll do my best, maybe some of what I say might help. I just did a full restore on my site today. Every week you should back up your database AND using an "FTP" client download you entire root directory for re upload. If you did not save your files and only saved your data base, you lost all the members photos, videos and so on. If you have not deleted your old site, go back and down load your entire directory.

Also, I found that when the directory is uploaded, you must delete everything in the "cache" folder except the .htaccess file.

What I do on a weekly basis is creat a folder named "Backup" on my desk top. Then inside that folder is dated folders for each week. Inside those dated folders I place a copy of my entire directory and database back up inside, and keep them in the archives for a year. This way if your most rescent back up is corrupted, you always have the previous back up tto fall on.

I hope this was somewhat helpful.
