A Real Book Mod Which you can create books

Is there a real book mod with which you can create books? or at least a story?

No, Modzzz stories module is not quite what the person had in mind.

Go to the site listed and look at the way the layout is presented.  Perhaps Modzzz can add the bits that are missing.

The story mod needs to allow the person to publish chapters in the story.  It would also be nice if the author could add chapters to the story, or book, at later dates.  The mod needs to list the chapters in the book so one can quickly jump to a chapter; this helps when reading long stories; you can pause and come back later and simply click on the chapter to pick up where you left off reading.  The drop caps used at the reference site are nice but not really needed.  The main thing is the ability to write and publish chapters in the story.  If a new chapter is added to a book one has subscribed to, a notification of such would be nice.

I hope Modzzz comes in and takes a look at this thread, or another developer as well, because this idea is a good one.  Modzzz's stories module is not quite there yet so I hope he considers some additions.

Edit: Also, at the reference site, at the bottom of a chapter was a link to go to the next chapter in the book, the chapters in the book needs to be paginated so one can go to the next chapter without reloading the whole site page.

Chapter functionality will be added to my Book/Stories mods (hopefully within next two weeks).

Thanks Modzzz, I think your stories module could be a nice one for sites that would feature writers.  I was thinking this morning about long chapters.  I am not that up on pagination in Dolphin.  Could it be set where a chapter is paged into pages?  My thinking here is that if one has a long chapter, instead of having a very long page to scroll, it could be broken down into a set length; a page.  Then as you are reading and get to the end of the page, you hit the next page (perhaps the standard Dolphin pagination controls) to continue reading.  Is this something that would be easy to implement?

The category is on the left side, the chapter of the current reading story is on the right side, and at the bottom of every page there are Back and Next chapter button. 

I think Drupal or Joomla is better for this thing.

 Honestly, I think you should look around or ask other communities (if there are).  I have seen all Modzz's mods but in my opinion his mods are not innovations, robust or that great. He just throws the existing codes around therefore the page just doesn't look professional- it's lacking the look, the feel and the attractiveness of a webpage.

I need something pro, robust, clean, easy to navigate, ease for the eyes, and of course good looking.

That is the job of the page designer and the graphic artist.  The module gives you the building blocks.  You can take a module, change the design boxes to new ones and then use CSS and the templates to layout the blocks the way you wish.  I have said this before but it is worth repeating, Dolphin is an application for developers.  If you don't have the skill set to push things around, then you either acquire those skill sets, or find people with the skill sets and add them to your team.

I'm sorry about my previous statement, maybe I was so frustrating for not having that mod that's why I said so. now I think back and that statement was stupid, I'm really sorry. 

Please release that mod and keep developing, your mods are great. I'll buy that one and a few more.

by the way, it'll be great if you have the option for members to post stories of their own.

I tried to add a new book but it was giving me the options for book review.

ahhhh, I see now. You got it like 80% working. I tried to add a few chapters and they're there.

2 suggestions for now:

1- when you click on http://www.dolphinmods.com/71b/m/book/view/test-book-123 , it should display the  sypnosis (introduction) and the book's chapters there, so readers can click on it to read on (maybe making the Chapters block become the default).

2- Under the book/chapter, you should insert some text before or after the backward, forward sign something like "Next Chapter, Next Page etc..."

 by looking at his demo page I think it's still under development. don't rush, let him make it nice and elegant with all the functions etc... 

It's kinda weird to see Dolphin hasn't had this mod for over many years. 

This mod is Pimp! I actually wrote a book and now I can publish it on my own site! I love good mods! Some mods don't show up when I search for them in the market.

Chapter functionality has been added to my Book and Stories modules

I went and tested the stories module.  It was a little bit confusing at first and some fields are marked with a red asterisk that are not required fields, such as the website link; that was confusing as well.

However, once I played around with it a bit, I figured it out.  You can create chapters, and each chapter can have pages.  Not a bad story module at all as it will allow authors to create works from short stories to full books.  Images can be inserted on the pages with text flowing around them; it has a TinyMCE toolbar editor for formatting text and inserting images.

If there is a Holiday sale, I might just purchased it.  Dang, I wish I had thought to get it on Black Friday but at the time it did not have the chapters modification.

I would probably make some changes in the interface; such as replacing Description as the label on the editor.  When you create the info for the editor, you enter a description for the story, but when creating the pages of the story, it also says description which is confusing. 

Geek Girl- I'm stepping up to the plate on this one... First of all, singlebooklovers.com would not be complete with this capability... LOL

I am also looking forward to the Review section.

Go to the demo site and play with it.  It is a little rough in some areas but should be able to be polished out.  It would need the template reworked a bit as well.  If I had known chapters would be ready, I would have brought it on Black Friday Sale, maybe a Christmas/Holiday sale is coming.

 You should be able to download it; but I am not sure about how you would added the changes; talk to Modzz about that.  I am still waiting for the Christmas sale.

Subscribe to the support forums for the modules you bought. I did post in the support forum for the Story mod regarding getting the update.
