for the record can someone tell me what permissions should be 777 in addition to cache? Does temp folder need to be 777 also? I placed link or path to a pic in block and it just shows title. Thanks for help

I read a post earlier today where someone said they have all permissions set |
I went to my site this morning and it was down. My server needed to be reconfigured. I found numerous exploits. after host got my site back up they changed cache back to 755. now I get this error again. is there another way around it without setting cache to 777 and getting hacked?

755 Should work fine. |
It would be nice if 755 worked, but at least on mine it does not. Any other suggestions? |
This is the permissions settings for v6.1.4 AFTER installation ..... (according to install instructions) |
Thanks. I did an upgrade and it didn't say anything about these permisions. At least I didn't see it. That doesn't mean it wasn't there though. :) Thanks again. |
You would not see them unless you did a 'new' install ..... |
This is what HFW responded to the question of setting the folders to 777. I trust you more than them, as you have the direct experience with the software and it makes since to me why they would need to be set to 777. I just worry because I understand their what they are saying also and I was already hacked once. Please tell me it's going to be OK. :) Thanks for the help
Hello, |
I pay for a VPS and I have 777 issue. Is it software or hfw? Should i have vps set up a certain way? |
You guys are going to get a lot of people screwed up posting false information. To the person who said they set everything to 666 and 777 you are an IDIOT. The goal is to set as FEW things to 666 and 777 as you can.
Yes, Hostforweb is pathetic. If you use them you should just go ahead and delete your whole site and setup a phishing site, because that is what you are going to end up with anyway. |
Do you really have to call him an idiot? Couldn't he just be wrong, or "sadly mistaken" or something like that? Rob |
take a lokk here shows down the page a bit http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/DetailedInstall that link is deprecated to Dolphin v5. search the forum for dolphin file permissions, i have included a list for 6.0, and another for 6.1 somewhere on here. yes they are different. later, When a GIG is not enough --> Terabyte Dolphin Technical Support - Server Management and Support |
