Well I managed to screw up my update... I should not have attempted same whilst so tired.
I was looking at a complete fresh install... Zarcon came to my rescue with a system backup and now I am able to go forward none the worse for my experience thanks to Nathan and Chris.
Excellent job guys and I will definitely make my own backups in the future!
