Hello!

Ffmpeg was upgraded too, so check permissions for flash/modules/global/app/ffmpeg.exe, should be 777. Also need to change this file if u have Windows server.

755 is enough. I don't see any point of writing to that file.

I upgraded from 7.0.1 to 7.0.2 and I'm having no problems with video at all.

Did you add a modification in 7.0.0 or 7.0.1 to videos?

Hello now I can embed YouTube videos. I've found the mistake which I did. I did changes in flash/modules/video/inc/function.inc.php to get thumbnail of the video later then to 2 seconds from the beginning.

In the functions grabImages and getGrabImageTmpl I changed variables $iSecond = 0 to $iSecond = 2.

Now I left $iSecond = 2 only in function grabImages. In the function getGrabImageTmpl I returned $iSecond = 0.

That's all and everything is OK I can embed videos and I can get thumbs from video's 2nd second (it means now I will never get black thumbnails from some videos, which has black frames in the begining)

And you try remember if you changed files which belongs video module.

Regards.

Hello killerhaai! Yes, 7.0.1 had another syntax of this part. In 7.0.2 i made some unification, but not correctly for Video module, that's why Youtube video was broken. So this ticket fixed this trouble - u may see repaired example here http://www.boonex.us/m/groups/view/Films-about-sharks). U may provide me via Unity mail accesses (FTP/CPanel, admin access) and i'll check ur site directly. Regards

I'm having this problem also, my host states they don't allow ffmpeg.exe because it takes up to much space! But it was working before... My server claims they don't allow this. I change the permissions to 777 and now is fine, but I'm not sure how long my host will let me use this...

guys,

i am not sure what is going on, but I tested this on a fresh install of 7.0.3

there seems to be somewhat of a glitch where you need to click on the page itself the continue button is dimmed, but if you click beside the continue button, it will activate the button, then you can click the continue and it will embed the video.

i have tested with a few videos (4)

Add Videos

Choose uploader - Embed (keeping in mind that you have to have the string in the correct format) -->

once i enter the url with the correct format, the continue button is dimmed, clicking beside the continue button will activate the button, and you are able to proceed.

lightwolf, let me know if you are able to get this working?

It worked before that way for me until 7.01 and since then no chance to embed youtube. No idea what that could be. Video comment is also goneat the same time.

***FIXED**** (for me anyway) Thanks to the suggestion of unlimeet.

I have spent at least 4 hours today pouring through these forums and searching the internet to find a fix for this issue. I was about to give up. But unlimeet mentioned, in one brief sentence, that they replaced the ffmpeg.exe file with the one from 7.0.1. So after running some errands today. I got home and searched for a copy of 7.0.1 (wasn't easy for me to find). I replaced my 7.0.3 ffmpeg.exe file with the one from 7.0.1. And wouldn't you know.... I can now embed videos from YouTube.

I could always embed them in a blog post or article, I just kept getting the dreaded "video upload failed" message when trying to embed one in the video section of a profile.

Hope the fix works for you too.

Quote · 18 Nov 2010

the irony of that is, i dont even believe that ffmpeg is used for the embed method, there is no reason to convert, because its not actually an embed, its a stream.... i would like you to put your updated ffmpeg back and lets test this further.

Have to agree with DosDawg here.. ffmpeg has nothing to do with YouTube video embeds.. This is specifically for converting videos. Only thing I am not totally sure about is whether the ffmpeg is used to actually "play" the videos on your site, but I do know its not used to embed them..

Nothing to see here
Quote · 19 Nov 2010

yeah thats kewl about the file size. but we wont get into the logistics and dynamics of streaming media on this thread.

here is the deal, and i am going to try myself on my site. i think you can remove ffmpeg.exe and the youtube stream will still work, because you are not doing an embed.....

Confused about the "take the http:// of your URL" question. Not sure what you're asking.

I understand what your saying but through deduction, the ffmpeg.exe file is what it seems to come down to (for me). All things being the same, save that file, it either works with the older version or it doesn't with the newer version.

The only reason I mentioned the file size and time stamp was to show that it was not the 7.0.3 file.

I don't know much at all about the file myself but it is possible that ffmpeg.exe is being invoked when you click "continue" and it really shouldn't be? And this particular version has trouble understanding that it should stand down when embedding into the video section? When I place YouTubes embed code in a blog post the embed works file regardless of which ffmpeg.exe file I use. So I know it doesn't have anything to do with streaming the file. But something goes haywire when trying to embed in the video section with the newer file.

give it a test, remove ffmpeg, use the embed option, and let us know the skinny

I trust you. And in that case, then the older version doesn't fix the problem, it's just that the newer version causes the problem (at least on my server). And I would bet that the other people that are having the same problem could remove the file and it would fix their embed problems as well.

Quote · 19 Nov 2010

Here's another question though.... When I swiched the files when you asked me to and the newer one didn't work, I then switched back to the older version, which didn't work either. I thought I lost my ability to embed again. The I realized that I didn't have my permissions set to 777. Switched permissions back to 777 on the old file and walah! It worked again. So, at least on my server, something is going on with that file.

Quote · 19 Nov 2010

Okay... i just removed the file and I got the message that said, "video upload failed" again. So, maybe it something to do with my server. All I know is this...

With new file = no go (no matter what permissions I use on it)

With old file = works (only with permission set to 777)

Without file = no go

I don't claim to understand why it works like this and I understand your argument that ffmpeg.exe shouldn't have anything to do with embedding videos in the video section. I'm absolutely positive that you know more about that stuff than I do. But what am I to think about the results I am getting? I think I'm not going to think to much about it and just go with what works.

Quote · 19 Nov 2010

BTW - just added the file back and it works again.

Now I just wish I could figure out how to disable video uploading on wall posts. Any suggestions? I'd like to be embed only as well.

Could I get a official response.. Please no offense ... But I get far greater support or engagement on open source projects that are free... I have spent what I consider to be a large amount of money on boonex lic ... modules .. and help ... This appears to be a bug that other people have complained about and either the answer is obvious and didn't need stating or it hasn't been fixed.. I am in the final leg of my project and it would seem at least to me that all the stock features should work or be addressable in a product versioned 7.0.X.... If I was a boonex employee I would be curious at a problem like this that seems to be present from a 7.0.2 version and is present in a 7.0.6 progressive version. I have thrown away almost half of my purchased module due to lack of support and bugs... I would hope the part of boonex you actually control (dolphin) would at least get some priority of attention. It behoves me that I can post a question on the samba , apache , pfsense , monowall , joomla , wordpress , snort , and linux kernel mailing list and get at least pointed in the right direction , but yet a sudo open source product I paid for I can't even get a single response from the "community" ..... This "eco-system" sucks.... You have proven at least that.... I will fix it myself like I have done with countless dolphin problems......

Thanks
