Fix the apps!

First of all, The apps is not complete.. the apps is suck.. Because the apps is way too cheap..

Candidly, I do believe Boonex should come up with a complete apps with all the features. I won't mind buying it for at least $3000 as long that apps is completed

I spent more than that over the years paying developers to design apps for me.  still can't have a good apps. Now I don't even have an IOS app because apple  rejected the app. So I bought what apple asked me.. report-user-on-mobile-app

the app rejected again and again.. It's been 3 months since apple been rejecting that damn apps.

So the Third  developer that is working on the app now. He does not even reply back to my emails .. After spending hundred and thousand of US $$$$ to get just an apps that actually work and approved

How happy am I? if you ask.. I want to burn this place down.

Just fix the apps boonex!

Most of the people who used to be "agents" haven't posted here in over a year. Is Boonex down to 3 paid employees now?

What is really sad is my "ticket.*.*" is active, maybe they should ask to become admins over there...

This is just one example of a support tickets I get, all the time...

I paid for the professional setup service and I do not have the site setup like I need it. I have the following known issues that require your assistance:
1. cannot upload music (MP3) files. Sometimes fail and sometimes keep pending for long times then fail.

2. cannot chat. Connections fail.

3. People can post to other people's timelines without being friends. I want to be able to only post to friends timelines. Messaging works fine as is.

4. I want to add my logo to the site and place a better background look to the site. I only see two background options but I want to use my own design.

5. If possible I would love to add a video chat with individuals or groups.

6. I want to delete the /dolphin from the URL and replace it with /removedforprivacyreasons

This is all the issues I currently see but I am still checking it and all the features out to make sure everything else works fine.

I would love to hire someone to actually manage the site for me, making sure everything is always setup and working correctly, applying updates, responding to members contacts for support, etc... Any recommendations are welcomed. Thank you in advance!

Josh

I am not giving up on Dolphin and I look forward to seeing Dolphin and Boonex's future ...

Nor am I as I have devoted time and money to support this CMS, it might not be a "Dolphin Forum" (due to lacking abilities) but I fully support BoonEx and Dolphin...

e.g.

and Bing too...

This was not intended to slay BoonEx, by far; I know that Dolphin is by far the best value for features offered out of the box default; third party, hit and miss.

I have been impressed by many sites that you would never know were "Dolphin," I guess this is because of third party support; windows are open and the sites are incredible, so again not against the code, just sometime we need to hear from the source.

No matter my reason for making this post/thread/topic; it was to see if I could inspire some input from the community.

I got that and beyond by having Andrew join the post, but, some seem insecure and I noticed only one moderator posted..

Yes, Andrew came in but was his input really all that useful?  It would have been nice to have heard more voices from new users of Dolphin.  I wonder how many would have said, "Well, I was going to use Dolphin and buy a license but since I could not get any help with an issue, I said "f**K it, and went to Elgg"; LOL.

I know that many of the seasoned Dolphin users and developers won't stop helping but at times I wonder how it would be if everyone took Andrew's view and just stop being Andrew's unpaid support team?

Five minutes ago I was pulling my hairs and crashing everything around after a day wasted with the app source code which is not commented. My customers are waiting for me to do updates and paid money, but now I'm stuck with these colorful-windows8-style-icons and white-hard-coded backgrounds everywhere...

Dear AlexT, if you are making something that is supposed to be open-source, don't you think that putting some simple comments in your source code would be not bad idea? The constant names such as BX_PROFILE_INFO_D 5.0 tells almost nothing to me. I have to look into the code and investigate what is it used for.

Where to change this default gray color on third-party buttons? Where to change white background on "lists"? Where to change the color for "Login" button? Why not to put these simple damn important for rebranding adjustments in one single file named config.h where they are supposed to be, so we can move forward and do what we have to do, instead of investigating new variables and change-and-try thru all files? Why we have to pull our hairs and mess with hundreds lines of non-commented code for hours while angry customers still waiting? There are million questions popping in my head...

Maybe it's me just stupid?..

One of the reasons I was pushing for responsive templates a while ago and we now have several on the market!

Have never liked much at all about the official app, at least with a responsive template, so long as I make sure the layout works for mob and desk, then at least my site will look like my site and have the same functions (bar chat) that I built it to have!

Quote · 10 Nov 2013

Yes, I'm still up in the air about which is better, but definitely leaning toward responsive design...Seems the few things that don't play nice in responsive would be easier to overcome than all that is missing in apps.

Lets say both responsive and mobile app could do EVERYTHING....Responsive would be better because trying to get someone to install yet another APP can be as difficult as getting people to sign-up....

While on the other hand....Having a Mobile APP is exposure to the APP using demographic.

Just how I see it I guess.....I still like both though.

Just wanted to point out that some of the most important "keywords" on things we're working on right now are: responsive, upgrades, mobile, market, pricing, simplicity. There're many other aspects that will be heavily influenced, directly or indirectly, like: forum, installation, vendors, templates, languages, connections, etc.

It's all really exciting, and we're on it 100% - just need some time to actually ship it, so please be patient. Thank you!

Hey, Andrew decides where this ship is going, not the ones that actually create and operate social networking sites with Dolphin.

This is a VERY important point I would like to comment on...

I, personally, am not a control freak and we always discuss and take customer feedback very seriously. We my not follow up in time, but we always consider. The thing is that, when it comes to product development, collective mind is not always the way to go. 100 different people have 200 different opinions, many of which are not very educated, and many of which are absolutely brilliant, but clashing. Ultimately, we have to make our own decisions and offer the product of our opinion and expertise - that's what we are paid for.

In fact, I believe that many of the Dolphin 5-6-7 flaws come from continuous attempt to accommodate to every opinion there is. Like the "couples-profiles" thing where everyone had their own take and we could' figure out the right way.

We are still listening, but we are sifting out the best signals only, and finally we're trying to follow through with our own take on the best community software. Not cloning big social networks, not rehashing competitors ideas, not pleasing every idea we have filed. Just building what we think is right. And we love the way it goes now.

I was googling phpchat yesterday and came across to Freichat (v9.4). I saw Boonex Dolphin on the list, however, it's not in dropdown list during installation (I chose custom) then couldn't figured out where to insert this code in which file?

Instead I try the demo, came across that it's not Safari-friendly at the moment on both OS and iOS.

Andrew, thank you for killing Flash... finally!

One Last problem, If members upload photo or video with by apps.. Those photo and video always go private. Plus those users don't even know if their friends or other members can't see that images or video..

If those members also use any mods on the market for facebook photo importer or facebook connected mod with photo import all those images will also go private.

Please, Please and Please fix that issue. All photo and video go public if someone want to put them private they will do that themselves.

Remove the private thing completely,, It should  be only members, friends and public.  If they want  private they should not join the site on first place...
