0777 and still ffmpeg.exe is Non-Executable?

Hey all,

I'm trying to install the latest ver. 7.0.7 of Dolphin, yet even after I've changed the permissions on ffmpeg.exe to either 755 (per the instructions) or 777 (recommended by a few here on the forums) I'm still getting the Non-Executable error and blocked from proceeding, I'm green on everything else.

If I try to access the file directly through URL it sees and DL's it just fine... so I presume that means it isn't being blocked server side.. so that leaves the Dolphin Installer itself?

What do I do now?

Any help would be appreciated. :)

thx

BigStig

contact your host and ask them if .exe files are allowed on there servers.   if not i can help you get around this another way.

If you want to allow video uploads and your host will not allow ffmpeg.exe then you will need to find a new host.

if its reporting as non-executable, you most likely are on a server as dolphin_jay says, that does not allow exe files.

and you would need to find a compatible hosting service for dolphin.

Why is it ffmpeg anyway? That process and the issues and security risks it causes was fixed several years ago with better, more secure ways of allowing videos to be shared. Haven't you boonex people heard of flash player yet?

There's a really cool site called YouTube that's pretty popular that uses that flash player thing. Check it out.

Dolphin has a flash player to play the videos, ffmpeg just converts them.

You have either decided to continue trolling these forums, or actually believe the things you are writing.  I have yet to decide which is worse.

I have no use for uploading videos to my site. So i can do perfectly well without FFMpeg. Is there a way around this check so i can continue the install?
