{nickname} still shown when Display-name changed.

In Version 7.1.3, when the value in the Settings>Advanced Settings>Profiles>Member Display-name is changed, {nickname} is still being displayed in a few places. This thread is for posting screen shots of those places.

This really tells us a lot.

What version?

In the menu or on specific pages?

I can "make" a site show that by moving items in the navigation menu. (only in .9 and <)

If your having a problem, please post a screenshot.

3 spots so far...When logged in and viewing my own profile:

photos/videos/timeline

The screen shot for photos looks the same as the one uploaded for videos.

OK, now that is a totally different thing.

So your saying you don't want the members name on the pages they create?

Those are just page links, what is wrong with the way it is?

What's wrong, is that I changed Member Display-name to "Firstname + Lastname". So it should say "Firstname Lastname's Timeline", not "Username's Timeline".

OK, now that is a totally different thing.

OK, this may lead you in some sort of direction where you want to change that info.

In the /modules/boonex/wall/templates/base/owner_info.html

look at that page...

<div style="position:relative">__owner_thumbnail__<div style="position:relative">__owner_nickname__</div><div style="position:relative">module Wall -> Base template</div></div>

Looking in that folder at each *.html file, you may find where you can remove or change that info, this will work for every module we have.

Usually it is the unit.html or view.html file in each respective module folder, same place.

for the videos, it might be this file...

view_unit.html

Thanks for posting on this and trying to help me out...I am not sure if we are still talking about the same thing. Maybe we are and I am just not following you.

I'm trying to get the title bar, and the tab title to read "carl's timeline" not "carl-b5709's timeline"...As well as "Browse videos from carl" not "Browse videos from carl-b5709"...Just the title bar and the tab, the page looks fine, all the spots on the browser page are correct.

It just seems like a bug because the value for the title bar and tab title should be taken from the advanced settings tab...

 Yep. It's for looks only.

IMHO, the look of the site is not as clean when the username is displayed...If the Member Display-name is set to Firstname, then the username/nickname should not be displayed anywhere...

I guess the issue here is that I am not following how to make the change...

I tried to replace:

<div style="position:relative">__owner_nickname__</div>

with:
<div style="position:relative">__owner_firstname__</div>

But that didn't work...(EDIT)...Even after cleaning the cache.

Make sure to clean the cache after changes.

I have not tested this change, but I can do on test site.

When trying to move/shift my Main Logo to the left, I found I couldn't do it with CSS or in any other template file. I had to track down where it was actually programmed into the PHP and hard code the change there. If I could find the PHP code for the that creates the title, I could use substr() to strip chars from the end of the username and it would be a good enough fix for me...

Another thing for site homogeneity,

When I click on "Photos" or "Videos" it shows the username with lowercase first letter. When I click on "Timeline", because the username is first, it is Capitalized. Maybe a rephrasing of the page titles would be in order?

"Browse videos(photos) from {username}" could be "{username}'s  Videos".

Just like timeline is "{username}'s Timeline"...

This way it would be at least uniformly capitalized...
