:) and <3 and the like in shoutbox

For some unknown reason, most of my users cannot make oldskool smileys like :) and <3 in the shoutbox. I myself seem to have no problem with :) but <3 I cannot make either.

Is there a sollution to the problem or is this just the ways it is for now?

You need to add these smileys into the smiley section and assign the keys to them.

And where do I do that? I find nothing in the ray module settings in admin panel.

You will have to dig into the Ray files via FTP to do something like that.  I forget the exact location, but within Ray you can Add smileys via a direct upload of images or you can write the code for the smileys and upload the file that way. 

Does anyone remember where that folder is? 

I haven't played with it too much, but isn't <3 going to be treated as an HTML tag in the shoutbox and stripped out, no matter what you do?

That is probably true

In the shoutbox, anything after a < will be stripped out until a > is encountered.  I'm not sure what sort of filtering the shoutbox uses, or if certain 'html tags' can be allowed.
