'Starter' Accounts Posting In Forums

Recently it seems that more spam (there is always some) has been hitting the forums lately by 'Starter' accounts. If I am not mistaken, it clearly states that 'Starter' accounts should not have the ability to post in the forums. This needs to be disabled!!!

I understand there may be legit starter accounts, but there are also ones that love to spam Unity. For those who have legit starter accounts, I do not see where it should big deal to spend the $5 one-time fee to promote yourself to Advanced at least. I'm sure they have spent more than that at a fast food restaurant recently.

For the record, those starter accounts that have 1 or 2 postings which both happen to be spam, created specifically to spam, are automatically permanently banned without warning. If you see anyone spamming the forums, please let me know.

Yes, The requirement for that was removed the last time they updated boonex.com(unity) which was quite a while ago.

I agree. The requirement of the fee should be restored.

I also believe starters should not be allowed to purchase from the market. (One time use accounts for stolen credit cards or kiddy borrowed mommy's card)

Very good point Dean.

They can even go as far as making the Starter accounts pretty much a 'view only' type of account.

I agree, I suspended 3, hide/edited 5 posts, deleted 4 topics Sunday..  I think it has increased a little but it's been about the same every other day. The fee should be restored or a time interval upon starting account to post.

In regards to purchasing mods in the market, I agree with Deano, they should be at least an advanced member.

Great! That should clear up the spam problem.
