'A link to the server could not be established'

Installed Dolphin and so far I like it. The template system is slightly different from the known CMSs like joomla or eCommerce projects like CRELoaded.. but.. nice work.

Have a weird problem, getting 'A link to the server could not be established' at the various locations

e.g.

This one when saving the profile:
Warning: mysql_affected_rows() [function.mysql-affected-rows]: A link to the server could not be established in /usr/local/.../BxDolProfilesController.php on line 220

This one when uploading the photo

Warning: mysql_insert_id() [function.mysql-insert-id]: A link to the server could not be established in /usr/local/.../uploadSharePhoto.php on line 158

as well as bunch of other places so there is no pattern.As if the connection to mySQL is closing prematurely. I havent done any modification to the code at this point, its a fresh install of Dolphin-v.6.1-AdFree with free Ray and Orca

First of all.. thanks to all who intented to reply to my post but never got a chance to do so...

The problem was w/some custom mod which was changing the active database link to some other database and never setting it back.
