    11= Beginner's Guide to Dolphin and !BoonEx =
    2 One of the first frustrations is to find a host who meets all technical requirements to run the script. Might be easy when you read the recommandations, but most of those hosts are in the U.S and noobs do not understand the requirements. It's a matter of trust when you decide to host abroad. I was lucky to bump into Gigapros who helped me a lot (even when I didn't ask for it). But before Gigapros I spent quite an amount of money on Belgian hosts who don't understand a thing about the script.[[BR]]

    4 My biggest frustration here still is that it's not evident to host your site in another country than Belgium because of the time zones not being specified in the script. This means that events startdates are not correct and  time of sent mails are not correct.
     3== Choose Web Hosting ==

     5Dolphin is a web software, which means that it has to be installed on a web-server (a computer connected to Internet and serving web-site pages to remove visitors). it is possible to install Dolphin on your local computer and run your site "from home", but this is highly ineffective. In most cases, you would need to find a hosting provider.
     6
     7There are thousands of big and small hosting companies around the world that offer different packages, services and setups. You do not have to choose a provide in your country, since your site would be accessible from anywhere in the world wherever it is hosted. US hosting companies are generally more experienced and offer better deals. There's one trick though - Dolphin takes '''time''' from the server, so if you're running, say, a local community site for Belgium and host it in US, you may need to adjust your time settings and PHP and MySQL. Future versions of DOlphin are planned to be switched to "relative time".

     9Not any hosting is OK. Make sure that the following [wiki:DolTech requirements] are met by your hosting. Just copy and send them to the hosting pre-sale support before paying. We offer a list of [http://www.boonex.com/hosting/ Recommended Hosting Providers] for Dolphin.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
