I don't know where you got that information from, Stuart038. Oracle has been in negotiations, and later acquisition limbo (due to the European Union) for the past year and a half now. Cisco plays no part in this whatsoever.

Oracle's CEO has announced himself that among many of the Sun products it will acquire, MySQL and SPARC will be continued. Even if this was not the case, there would be no reason for yourself to worry, since MySQL is an open source product, and many people have already forked see more it after the announcement of the acquisition over a year ago.

I highly recommend you read into the details of this acquisition, and all that has been done so far, and in the future. Personally, I do not approve of the acquisition, but there is nothing that I can do about it.
