I personally don't like the direction this is going in.

Are you serious? Why would they? Dolphin is a software website, FB is a social network. We have a forum for discussions we don't need a discussion board (wall)

Well i wouldnt need it too if there is an app for boonex unity which works in all mobile platforms. by now i do have fb app for Java, symbian, android and more
just a point when i want to take boonex[unity] with me on the go

It's not a good idea to befriend with FB, be it for discussion or otherwise.

Boonex is probably the biggest fear for FB. Imagine 100000 niche sites each with approx. 2000 members or more. Not only are these more likely real members and not multible accounts like they have on FB, but also quality of communities will be higher.

Where can you see FB then?

FB is a data gathering whore for authorities. Only recently they are trying to put more quality into it. Guess why?

Facebook, IMO, is both good and evil and that's how we take it when dealing with it. It's a source of traffic and even "the Internet" for some, so we are now somewhat connected to it. On the other hand, it's a site that's robbing almost everyone of visitors now - online dating industry and most social networks are struggling. This can't be good - too much power in one pair of hands.

And as elcentcom said, we're not exacly supposed to buddy-up with FB all that much. Our own webhome.org see more is a movement aimed at takign down giant SNs as FB and bringing up niche communities, like those powered by Dolphin. On top of that we are, in way, behind a few hundreds of Facebook clones, so go figure.

Personally, I believe and hope that eventually online identities and social graphs will become independent and only content/niche communities will make sense. Facebook is just too generic to exist - their functionality should be a part of standard browsing experience, not a proprietary service. Our webhome.org and some other upcoming moves should contribute to making this happen.

Andrew I agree with you 100%. I have been telling friends that Facebook have too much power for one entity. If you ask me the Dolphin software is on a whole other level. Facebook time of reign will so come to an end. I truly believe Boonex/Dolphin will be the thing of the future. I was telling a friend just the other day that don't be surprise when Dolphin starts to make Mark real nervous.

today the founder of www Tim Berners-Lee joins the FB critics too. Unfortunately it is in German. I will post a link when the English version is available, I guess in 2 - 3 days.

Anyway, interesting, we're not alone.

latest in he FB saga
FB anf Google are fighting over user data. First Google stopped FB and would only open up again when FB offers the same service to Google. Today FB just deleted the Google option, lol

I still can't delete my user account at FB. You can only stop your presence and they store your data.

they may fight each other very seriously very soon.

@elcentcom: I recall Facebook allowing users to delete their account, but it just takes a number of days before the process is completed.
elcentcom
MS, that's not quite right. They may have to do it in various countries by law but those countries that don't care, people can only disable the account and enable it at ANYTIME by just logging back in again.

They have multiple standards and a hunger for power.
