Where is everyone?

I have been watching the trac and also the blog trac and I have not seen any Boonex big wigs on line in days, It also seems that they have only fixed 1 item in the fix list in last 3 days. What is up guys, why taking a few extra days off when we all are waiting for your release? Now comes the weekend and we have to wait 2 more days for you all to work on this? This is absolutely uncalled for. You are treating us like we DO NOT matter by staying silent and stressing us out more!!!

I for one would like to know what is up and why have you stopped working on the release? I think we deserve at least this from you unoboonex!

I guess this is where it pays to follow them on Twitter. :)

http://twitter.com/boonex

"Back from Singapore SNWF. Working on Dolphin 7, Mobile Apps and Unity update.10:43 PM Sep 28th from Tweetie "

They don't tweet too much, but I did catch that they went to a conference and have been away from the project for a while.

While I don't care if they have gone out and on a conference or any other event, I sort of agree that perhaps an message could have gone out in the blogs or online see more here in Unity stating that they were not going to be working on the project for a little while...

But...since I have not sites installed with Boonex at the moment, I am not really paying too much attention to the releases. (Not Boonex's fault that I have no sites installed with it.) Therefore I stay neutral! :)

Thanks for the info, i rarely ever get on twitter anymore.

Hello LightWolf :-)
Please take it easy, but I don't share your point of view... I don't know what programmers was doing these last days. But, as for me, I hope that BoonEx team enjoy a few extra days off from time to time, just to take some distance from D7 script. This is the best thing to do to "reset" the brain, have a fresh point of view, discover some problems that become suddenly flagrant or let new ideas to arise.

Believe me or not, but to spend some time on something else than see more the daily work often is the best way to finally ensure a gain of time.

And I'm as impatient as you to upgrade my site to D7 ;-)

I think it time to stop worrying about this really, its going to take a small miracle to get D7 onto a stable platform before christmas, like i said before, its going to be well into next year before we can finally relax with a cuppa and admire the new D7 virtually bug free sites. I guess what with the holiday time looming, the best we can hope for is another beta or two.
mistertunechat
Or maybe we will get up to d7 beta 40..lol. I have given up on d7 totally as of now. Like i said before now im just checking to see if they have made any real progress at all. I deffinitely will not be investing any money in it at all. Possibly will try the free version to give myself something to do.

Of course, why should you support it? You have a site running in 6.1.6 and more than likely have paid little or nothing towards it. Of course this demonstrates your position that Boonex should just slave away.

And for those complaining that new items are being added while others wait to be fixed, perhaps you should begin to comprehend how things are done. D7 is built in modules, and while adding something to the site seems strange, since it's in a fully different module than something with see more issues there is no issue to this. Perhaps if you took a moment to really comprehend how simple some things are and how difficult others are then you might begin to grasp what is going on here.

Boonex is breaking a ton of new ground that has never before been done and trying to develop a product that will blow minds. In the mean time, a bunch of children are sitting around complaining about the software not having every toy they want.

Guess what. When you own the company you can choose the options of the base software, until that time, you can accept what is offered to you and if you want additionals, get off your arses and develop it yourself. Perhaps then you will gain a little bit of respect for the people who spend countless hours working on this software and all the sacrifices they have taken. If Boonex wants to take a vacation, then guess what...

I'll pay for the thing myself. They've earned it!

I agree with MichelSwiss

everywhere on blog or forum - we always want more

and we what we do? for the BoonEx team

I have a proposition for you
offer a meal at the restaurant for the whole team BoonEx
asked to open a special account for the BoonEx team
on this account we are making donations
mistertunechat
I don't even understand this response at all. Its not wanting more to want an actual release that can be used that is stable. That's called common sense.
danielmarseille
if you are not satisfied

why you used dolphin?

Nobody forces you
mistertunechat
I use the free version , and i dont use dolphin 7 at all. I still dont understand your point.
mistertunechat
I am glad i haven't invested any money in dolphin like i initially had planned. I don't see hardly any progress whatsoever with d7. No idea of when it will be completed nothing. They keep adding more and more things while the bugs keep piling up. It almost seems like there is one person working on this project, and it doesn't seem like its very professionally ran at all imo. I guess my advice would be if you have d6.16 just to improve off of that. And don't plan on d7 to be used as your home see more site any time this year.

I just love posts like this. Individuals who have only recently professed a huge discord with the intentions of Boonex concerning real names and how they will throw it all in the garbage should it arise, are now starting posts that basically demanding that Boonex give them updates.

Guess what? They don't have to give you an update. They don't have to advise you when they take a day off. They don't even have to advise you that they are intending to put out a new version. Why? Because it's see more their company and their rights to do this.

Perhaps, had people show a little more integrity in regards to the Full Name issue and not jumped on the Bash Boonex Bandwagon that was fraught with misconceptions and misunderstandings then maybe Boonex would update you on these things. Pesonally, I'd of probably deleted the accounts of those who chose to bash them so harshly. Especially those who have not paid for licenses (Not directing this at any one person specifically but rather all those running free licenses [including the ad-free free licenses] and never made a single contribution to Boonex).

But I guess I'm a different breed. Of course, I'd also expect a Psychic to know these things before the rest of us to!
mistertunechat
And we "don't" have to give them our money either.
mistertunechat
I would be quite upset if i paid for dolphin and had to go months before i actually got a working site. I was very close to investing alot of money into their software before i seen all the beta versions, and what seems like a lack of any real support and professionalism. The bottom line is this is a business, not just some casual software. Just like you state it is their right to update or not, the same can be said in reverse. It is our right to decide if we want to invest in said software or see more not as well. The whole purpose for businesses to release trial sosftware, or in boonexes case a free license is for people to try it out. Then people can make a conscious decision if they want to purchase the full software or not. This is not something that boonex has came up with, but rather the standard when talking about software. I'm sure boonex understood by allowing people a trial of sorts they knew what they were getting themselves into, and not everyone will want to purchase the add free version. But to think they would delete accounts of people that aren't happy with the way things are going here is a bit harsh to say the least.
The bottom line is just because you paid money for a add free version of dolphin gives you no more right then someone that hasnt paid a dime, and is just trying out their software imo.
anydude
poor me, i've purchased smartpro license & waiting for D7 since last Nov..

I would love to sell my smartpro license, anyone can help?
mydatery
Wow! You purchased a smartpro license in Novemember for D7... Huh... That's amazing. Because they weren't selling them for D7 in November. They've been selling them for D6 since November and long before that.
mistertunechat
Sorry bout the double post.
mistertunechat
I hate that you can't delete or edit your posts after whatever the time limit is. Anyway the bottom line is alot of people are shopping around for their own social networking software. Because of the popularity of sites like facebook, myspace, and even twitter. This will bring dolphin alot of NEW customers. You can't expect for someone to just blindly invest their money in something that is full of bugs. Or not even ready to be fully released. I am using d6.16 but have decided not to invest see more anything till i see how dolphin 7 turns out. I feel lucky because i didnt just decide to jump right in spending money before testing the waters. Boonex has to realize they are not just geared to people that have had dolphin sites for years and years but to new customers as well. Which is why they are a business, and not just giving away some free open source software. They sell something for almost 1000 dollars, I think that warrants people to be alittle cautious before investing money with them don't you? It also gives people the right that have invested money to be a little upset with the rate at which things are handled, and the lack of any real support.
Again this is a legitimate business not some yahoo booter site, where people are giving away some free chat client. Everyones opinion should be equally important whether anyone agrees with it or not imo.
mydatery
And you have invested nothing. As far as your whine concerning the $1000.00 goes, that's nothing when it comes to operating a business. What? You think a $1000.00 is a lot of money? If you think that's a high price to pay for the base of your company then you need to begin to rethink what your getting into. Let me help you out on this one.

If you are designing a dating site you can expect the following:

Google Adwords: $30,0000.00 US per month, might get you 1,0000 members back out see more of that investment. Be prepared to invest this as a loss for the first year.

Twitter Ads: Prepare to dump another $15,000 - $20,000 US the direction of Twitter, they're becominga major player in the advertising sector and as such, your gonna have to buy those ads if you want to catch the individuals who are doing other things.

SEO: Better be ready to dump countless hours or turn over a minimum of $10,000.00 US if you want your site to land high in the search engines. SEO is a powerful tool that if done right will deliver amazing results, if done wrong your dead in the water and will likely never recover from the damage you do trying to figure this one out.

Now, you haven't even gotten into the layout of your site. Better cough up some more money if you want to seperate it from the rest and get some custom graphics/tables included into it.

Then we have site functionality. If you can get anyone to build you a decent site for $2k then you have a miracle, in this were talking about Dolphin. Site builds have run several thousands of dollars for a truly good site that has full functionality and works across the board for your users in all browsers.

So, you keep whining about that $1K US for the license and realize your not even close to having a site that anyone wants to bother with for that license fee... Not even close... All that gets you is the base to start with...
mistertunechat
Ok mydatery first off i can do website design myself, I would need to get it coded however IF thats what i decide to do. 1,000 dollars is alot of money to spend on something that doesn't work. To me 5 dollars is too much to spend on something that doesn't work. Maybe you have money to throw out but I don't. 30,000 dollars a month on adwords is a bit high don't you think? Then twitter adds $20,000 a month? Seriously are you just throwing these figure out of thin air? Then 10k dollars on search see more engine optimization if you are paying this much (which i seriously doubt) then more power to you. But that is wayyyy too much to spend on a start up online business. Let's get real. Again like i said in my previous post that is your opinion, and i have mine just because i don't agree with what you are saying doesnt mean i am whining. When i invest money i expect to get some sort of reasonable return for my investment no matter what it is. If you just throw money out just to throw it out, you would be better off playing the lottery or something.
mydatery
You know "mistertunechat" I guess your forgetting some majorly important items:

1. D7 (AKA Hookie) is not yet in a stable release version and the Beta's are nothing more than previews of what is to come. So why are you whining that it has bugs when it's not even available for use in a production type environment.

2. You better do some checking again if your looking to enter the SNS/DN (Social Networking Site/Dating Network) business. $30K a month on adwords is considerd bottom see more of the barrel, and yeah, it'll get you about a 1000 members out of that. Of course, I guess your the pro with all the experience of buying adwords and such so we should bow down to you.

3. Numbers for Twitter and SEO are also accurate. Of course, you get what you pay for and if your not willing to invest in your company... Oh yeah.. You want the entire script custom made for you for $1k, no wonder...

4. Of course $1k is to much for something that doesn't work... But it's not being released as a working script... Oh yeah, we covered that in item #1...

5. To design websites is a hell of a lot more than colors... You need to look at functionality of the site, programming of the site (this would be creation of the script and the DB), integration of different things and so much more... Of course, you do website design as long as someone else writes the script... Hmmm... Doesn't sound like website design to me... Sounds like you do graphics... Big difference between you and Boonex.

Methinks it's time you get off your high horse, it's way to big for ya and get back up on the porch while the big dogs handle things...
Andrew Boon
We're working non-stop. Actually more than before. The Trac hasn't been updated for a while, because Alex T was on the move (Bishkek-Sydney) and he's looking after it. Next beta is on the way.
ydrargyros
We need the RC to start working and get busy with the platform!
One thing i'm suggesting here:
-Can you organise that in a way that the main platforms bugs get a greater importance into solving that the plugins bugs? If you make the platform stable enough to work on, we'll be able to start producing live sites, plugins and templates, which means income for us and revenue for Boonex!
Andrew Boon
Totally agree. We've discussed that a few days ago and decided to concentrate on core issues only and release RC asap. One more beta is imminent, though.
CALTRADE
Please, please, please - if there is one more beta, please give us an upgrade path to the RC. Also, on the "core features" issues, make sure the registration form works properly (especially the multiple select checkbox items). If that does not work, then we can't even collect data properly, and the whole thing is worthless.
ydrargyros
Thanks for taking this into high consideration. More and more people start relying on your platform! Don't let us down!
