frustrated member.

I have 2 sites.

site one, i haven't upgraded yet but i can't log into the admin . it keeps asking me to register but i already registered the software and its been working fine for 6 months. Now i have to spend the time generating and registering my site. then spend the next couple of days fixing probelms which may or maynot have been cuased by registering the software.

site 2, i upgraded form 6 to 6.1, and received all kinds of probelms.  it took me 2 hours and some to upgrad the second site. spending 2 hours upgrading gave me a problem,  users can not  join anymore!!!

I realize Boonex is busy busy busy and i understand this. But look at it from my prespective, my sec. site was down for a week. you cant run a business, a website that depends on membership being, down for a week. can you see walmart shutting down for a week becuase they haven't recevied xyz shippment?

there has to be a better approach to upgrading.

I dont have any mods installed

most of the installs are default instals.

I'm not a database manger

I'm not a programmer.

some of your argument will be, well its free so suck it up. Dont take me wrong, i like what boonex has to offer but i also like to be able to run the software and be able to enjoy its succcess rather then fight the software and or support.

just frustrated, thats all.. I spent a lot of time using Dolphin. I jsut received an email.  bassically telling me maybe i should restore my backup and wait for version 6.1.2 to upgrad.. so how do i get back the 2 hours that i lost and some back. this is just on one site.

i paid 998 dollar & my site still not stable too. waited for a week to get my site upgraded & now can't upload music to music gallery, can't rate photo uploaded by other members, whole site become non-responsive, etc..so pathetic.. this really make me wonder if I've made the right choice..

guys i know this will not help, and i agree with many of your points. the sites shouldnt go down under any circumstances. there are issues, and i am sure this will be addressed in the future. of course that doesnt help the current situation.

anydude, you are correct, if you spent 998.00 i would be somewhat irrate, i think you should be compensated in what way i wouldnt know, but to spend that kind of money and be left out in the cold, is hard to swallow.

guys this will all work itself out, see more dont abandoned the ship yet. the seas are only choppy, its not a storm. i have been on this from the other end when i was into developing, its frustrating for the programmers as well. they dont like to turn out a product that goes to hell in a hand basket. it happens. consider microsoft and windows ME, that was just about the junkiest release those guys had ever put out. but they were trying to accommodate the masses. so in the bigger picture, this will all work out, and we will look back and this and say whew, that was rough.

so to the boonex team and dolphin programmers, keep up the good work, site is looking good. yes we have hit some bumps but they too shall pass.

Well, I've not given up yet. Just a bit frustrated & hope that Boonex delivers what they have promised .

See the link http://www.boonex.com/products/smartpro/ , they promised "Full pre-deployment assessment (ensuring site is 100% operational) ". Sad to say, 2 weeks has passed but my site is still not operational.

Then, there's patches released for Dolphin 6.1.1 & I got the help from support staff yesterday to do it for me as SmartPro comes with 3 free installation/upgrade. see more But they had deducted 1 free installation/upgrade from my account. Aren't the patches 6.1.1 are meant to fix some bugs? If you sold a defective item to your customer, shouldn't you fix the defects free of charge?

Anyway, I hope tomorrow will be better. I know they have tried their best. So, I better keep my fingers crossed : )

please dont miss understand me. i like dolphin too but that doesnt take away from the frustration.

I'm now on the fence weather to spend the time upgrad my working site from 6 to 6.1. i spent alot of time and mony trying to get members on my site and have it down for a week would drive me nuts.

I always stick with the theory "if its not broken, dont fix it".

If you have a live site working well enough i'd leave it alone until i could be sure the upgrade would be worthwhile. A couple of new functions might sound great but, if they are at the expense of time and aggravation and the disfunction of other parts, it really isn't worth it.
I've got dolphin installed in a test-dev area, so whilst the upgrades can be a rigmarole it doesnt affect me too much.

For the person who paid see more for their site, i fully understand. I've seen a load of clients at work recently where we've been fixing botch website jobs by other people/companies.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
