Video Upload Challenge After All Known Fixes

libertyshaven posted 8th of March 2008 in Community Voice. 10 comments.

I have recently installed Dolphin's package.  Most is working fine but I still have a challenge with uploading videos.  I've searched through here and the Expertzzz forums and performed all fixes I could find.

1.  I updated the php.ini file which helped finally allow music files success and video files at least to show 100% upload.
2.  I upgraded from 6.0.4 to 6.0.5
3.  I contacted my host to insure there were no restriction on videos through them and there are none, any video or audio format can be streamed.
4.  The videos I am attempting run fine in my YouTube, LiveLink, MetaCafe, and local computer.

What I get is a 100% upload and then an error box showing error in file.  Any other ideas on what I may be missing to get videos working on my site?

Thanks for any ideas or insights!

Gary

are you using the boonex rms or do you have rms setup on your server? this appears to be a media server problem that i too have encountered.

also, you can send me one of your files or shoot me a link to one that is uploaded on your server, i will pull it down and install it on my test site which i just uploaded last nite, still doing the install actually, but i have rms set up on my server, and should be able to produce a positive result.

I'm using the boonex rms. I'm not sure if my host has an rms but I can try that. I just updated to the latest ffmpeg.exe and that didn't solve it. I'll shoot you a video for testing. The one's I have online are at the three sites I mentioned so I'll send you a file.

Thanks DodDawg, this issue is starting to drive me nuts as video is a major area for our community.

RMS only powers the "video recorder" and "A/V chat".. all the other widgets don't need it at all. My first guess is ffmpeg.exe because it seems the video is uploading correctly, after that the next step is for ffmpeg to convert it to an flv. Is your ffmpeg.exe set to "777"? Also, you said your host said it could stream movies and music but you might have to ask them if they allow executables to run. I was helping a guy two weeks ago and he ended up having to swap hosting see more companies because that is what the problem turned out to be.

I am having the same problem (and driving me nuts)and the 2 host company I was using told me that they do not support executing exe files. Can someone tell me which are the hosting compaies that we know for sure will work with dolphin. I have to switch now and need some advise which hosting provider will definitely work.

hostgator hosting works fine for me, without any problems

I use rackspace and it is the absolute best I have found. I have used hostgator, cihost godaddy ixwebhosting etc etc but none come close to rackspace at all.

"1. I updated the php.ini file which helped finally allow music files success and video files at least to show 100% upload."

liberty, could you explain to me what you did with the php.ini file?
Did you create your own and place it in various folders and, if so, which ones?
What did you put in the php.ini file?

I am one step behind you. I can't get video or audio to upload. Getting the "should be under 20M" and then "error uploding file...". At this point I would see more be happy if I could just get the videos to upload. I can work on the issue of getting them to convert/play after that.
Any help would be very, very much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

I saw your post on the Boonex forums for the issue with being able to upload only 1 video with Ray Video Player (also happens for Music Player). I have the patch and am selling. Please email me at bgrier2003@yahoo.com if interested. I will also provide information on the cause and how to apply the patch.
