Why Is It Im making This Blog?

So That We All Can Protect Ourselves From Hosting Companies!

I have read and seen that A certain percentage of hosting companies that are floating on the net to survive are offering shared hosting with Unmetered Space & Unlimited Bandwidth put themselves up for questioning at this point and time for many of us.

Often times when we think to ourselves and discuss what does the word mean "unlimited" really mean ?

You must be really stupid to beleive that there is such a  company who can provide to every user on the planet  "Unlimited"  everything!

We the consumers are taken for a ride and fooled to believe all of this, so YES there's alot of harm done when hosts use the word unlimited bandwidth or space.

We can argue till were blue in the face with most hosting companies about the unlimited bandwidth & space and what it means for a regular -normal - standard - average - above average usage".

Thing is, there is NO SUCH TRUE standard - regular - normal - average - above average usage, so we the consumer can take legal action against these companies!

When Hosting Companies Use the Word "Unlimited"  ?

Unlimited means  "unmeasured - unmetered".

However, most of  the hosting companies that offer "Unlimited"  are Full Of Shit !

So think really hard to yourself!  "All hosting companies do actually in fact measure the full data traffic consumption", cause if you notice at one point in time once you have 1000 members and all of a sudden your account is suspended or banned thats when you will realize that there scamming you!

Then they claim you need to have a  upgraded account. ( so what happend to the unlimted space and bandwidth, answer from them is " You Used To Much Resources" as they put it!

Reasons why hosting comapnies play with the word

"Unmetered - Unlimited bandwidth - Unlimited Space".

Lets put this into perspective, a hosting company exists to profit off the consumer.

Shared Hosting Companies role model is to maximize profits and sales.

Offering "Unmetered Bandwidth"  targets psychologicaly the souls of people!

"Statistics" when offering " Unlimted - Unmetered " means Overloading, Slower Speeds Slower everything and this plays big factor on the server resources!

Unmetered Bandwidth - Space

How Hosting Companies Get You!

So how would we get threw the offer of unlimited Space Or bandwidth ?

There's one magic word that gives the host all the power, one word that is above all the others.

That is the "Server Resources Abuse"!

If your website uses to much CPU power and memory that it affects the performance of other websites on the same server, then the  host will suspend you, or even ban you, ( again ask yourself when it looks to good to be true, it usally means its to good to be true )

You might want to ask yourself this question ?

Why would you want to go threw all the trouble on sorting out what types of websites to use an which ones not to as the shared hosting company  might tell yah oh your hogging to much resources "then basically we will all be forced to upgrade as we all know in time once our sites build with memebers and all sorts and eventually we use more resources" so they beat us all in there words and knowing that all websites grow means we will be forced to upgrade  after 1000 members!

The answer to it is " use only a php forum on a shared hosting " anything like Dolphin software use a dedicated server, so that you will never have these companies telling you that your using to much resosuces, its that simple!

What Do We Do About Hosting Companies who Scam & Fraud us ?

If this ever happens to you, Please report the companies doing this to your local police and make sure you forward your information over to BBB.

Why are you publishing comments directly from a different website? You should not really pass off other peoples material as your own work and if you want to quote them then please credit them.

Your blog appears to use large portions of quotes from the following article: http://whreviews.com/unmetered-shared-bandwidth.htm

Which may, in itself, use other articles. I am not saying it does not, but I just thought this text looked familiar.

Bottom Line is ...

I will be having people who will be talking Live over the Phone applying with theses companies soon and then having people testing them to there fullest and seeing what hosting companies use there famous tos "to many resources", and when we find out the companies that ban our groups or suspend these groups of individuals then we will post it on our own wordpress blog and even put out videos of the conversations with these companies who claim that it was unlimitted see more to begin with!

I was aat the ModernBill 5 convention in Kentucky a few years back, where the CEO of a major hosting company was speaking and he told the following story:

He said that when they first went into the hosting business, they had a promotion where they offered unlimited email addresses and free bandwidth. He related how they were having some network throughput problems and started looking at what was gong on......They found that one of their customers was trying to be the next Google or HotMail and see more had over 37,000 email accounts on their system.

His advice.... never say unlimited (someone will invariably try you on it) and never say Free... AND ESPECIALLY never combine the two... lol

Why do you continually cut and paste stuff from other sites? Just post a link to the article you want people to read instead of trying to make people think it's yours.

It was NOT copied!

If it was completly copied of course I would of just said I will NOT take any credit for it, but since this was written/worded my way, it is my blog!

Understanding what plagiarism is and how to avoid it, could save you some trouble in the future. Even rewritten articles can fall under plagiarism, if not properly cited. A simple "cite" is very polite :).

Choosing the right words is very important in rewriting something without proper citation. It's usually safe to start out by saying something like, "I have read", or "on such and such site", but a mention should be included if it's not your original idea.

In the end
Get rid of ALL of the Ads along the Nav Bar under Hosting since the ads are directed towards "SHARED HOSTING" between 4$ to 9$ get rid of them since they do not fit the full requirements for Dolphin software "long term"!

In the end, Shared Hosting is for those looking to set up a few pages, maybe sell a couple of items. Even attempting to run a phpBB3/vBulleting/yaBB forum on a shared server is going to be a waste of time/resources/money as inevitably your members are going to send you over the top on these alleged "Unlimited" specs.

And yes, if it sounds to good to be true, then it is. Many of these hosting companies are nothing more than re-sellers, meaning they don't even own/control the servers see more and simply act as a go between between you and the true hosting company.

Do your research, buy a server that is going to be able to replicate the environment you want your site to run on when it's fully grown and in a production environment.

Further, when selecting your host, here are some good questions:

1. Do you have a True VPS that can support your Own RMS and not the RMS of the Host or another entity. Recently talked to one host who was asked the True VPS question and the response was yes, asked about RMS and he gave away the lie when he said: "Every server we have has RMS installed on it and all acounts come with RMS." If it's a True VPS then why is there RMS installed on it and your not allowed to have your own?

2. When the site is ready to upgrade from a VPS can you provide a Dedicated Server or will the site need to be moved to a new host? I had a conversation with GoDaddy where they admitted, they provide NO Dedicated Servers if that became a reality then the site would have to find a new home.

3. When the site reaches that point where it has outgrown the Dedicated, can the host provide a Server Cluster for the site to run on? Again, you will be surprised at how many hosts will say no to this again. In the end, it's not in their interest to run VPS, Dedicated or Clusters as they can make more off a million shared accounts than they ever could off one guy taking up an entire Server or 5 Servers.

Do your homework and plan for the future today, that is the only way you will be sure to know your site will never outgrow it's host. Personally, I keep standing orders that if my sites EVER outgrow their current environment then the Hosting Plans are to be upgraded without even asking and just send the bill for it.

I gave you "thumbs up" cause someone had given you a thumbs down.

thanks for taking the time and explaning in depth about the real truth and knowledge on shared hosting!
Technoman
Who ever is giving thumbs down on my blog,
it doesnt matter!

I have just given myself back the thumbs up & credit since I find this is very important for those who dont want to get screwed by shared hosting!

Its all very interesting is all this, but do you not think that shared server serve a purpose, to my mind it gives joe average a chance to stick his toe in the water of having his or her own site, to see how he gets on with it without having to fork out a fortune each month for VPS and so on. I suspect not everybody is up to running there own server anyway but i know some you can get managed for you.
Saying all that though, The issue with shared servers isnt really about them saying unlimited diskspace see more and so on, because if you build up slowly, you can have as much space as you want, the real issue i think is CPU usage, this is what limits you, usually it is set really low like 1 or 2 percent, so if you go over this usage at one time, this is when their alarm bells start ringing. Its true that its all a con trick though one way or the other they are trying to scam you into believing you have something you haven't, and ive been saying this for a long time, there really ought to be some regulatory commission that keeps an eye on these people, because at the very best its false advertising, to just out right criminal behaviour.

I think for all of us that use shared servers, we are going to get screwed over one way or the other, you just cant win really.

Some of you aren't going to like this, but here it goes.

A VPS will run you $40 a month to use as an incubator for your site, this allows you to run your own RMS, build the site the way you want and have your server run the exact software that you choose, which should be what is recommended by Boonex for a Dolphin site. A VPS should not require you to know how to manage a server, every VPS I have seen has been managed by the hosting company, you make a request and they execute it.

With that see more said, I've seen Shared running anywhere from $4.00 a month up to $60 a month. Yes, I have seen shared hosting at 1 1/2 times that of a VPS. So the cost issue is not a factor when you look at that. In addition, looking around the average seems to be $10 to $30 a month for a shared server. Figure in another $5 to $10 a month for an RMS connetion and show me where your saving money?

At least with the VPS you know exactly what your getting, no games about where is the Bandwidth limit, it's right there in your agreement. No issues concerning storage space, it's in the agreement. No issues concerning processor or memory. It's in the agreement.

Now, to make a few mad. In the end, if you can't afford to spend 30 or 40 a month on your site, then how are you ever going to get your site known? Advertising runs thousands a month, if you can't handle the cost of a decent server, then maybe you should be looking towards a different hobby. After all, you may think your serious, but without the funds, it is only going to be hobby.

Stepping down off soapbox.

exactly my point ( right on ) !

Like I said why the hell do we even have these ridiculous shared hosting servers 29.99 a month broadcasting on the hosting companies for boonex ???

Come on get freaking real and they dont even fit the full freaking requirements needed to host dolphin on its very side to side with rms,
I mean hello .. !!!!!!
Boonex why support shared hosting companies for what on here ?????

Yes we need to pay a little more for a good vps or dedicated server see more but were talking about a server where you can freaking control anything or just about and know exactly what you have in your hands!

A shared hosting server can tell you tomorrow with 20 memebrs registered on your site that your using excessive resources!!!
Technoman
Security is a prime factor on shared hositng.

If your on a shared hosting server, well guess what?

The bad news is, your 1000 neighbor's with just ssh access can add stuff right into all your directories if permission's allows him/her!

Those ever lasting lurking big eyeballs are everywhere today on shared hosting servers!

You know those FTP accounts that you have, did you even disable those anonymous ftp account's ? Or did you even think about adding a password to them ?

I could see more go on until the cows come home if you really want me to, the list grows each and everyday as we speak.
So "Shared Hosting" ISN'T two or more ladies holding a Tupperware party?
