To all who need help with Dolphin

hd4real posted 12th of June 2009 in Community Voice. 8 comments.

First I would like to say this post is just to give you a format on how to post your problem to the forum. Do not use blogs for Dolphin issues if you need help. I know you might get a faster reply at the blog section, but it will be deleted.

A lot of people ask for help but forget to give some more info so other people know how to help you. It would be good if you use a format like this:

When you ask a question, provide the following.

----------------------------------

Name your thread: (Don't name it "My dolphin dont work" or "Please Help me". For example, name it: "I have an error with my index.php page not loading".) advice from Tyke. Check his comment below.

Dolphin version:

Apache version:

PHP version:

MySQL version:

Server system: (linux, windows etc)

Dolphin Free or Dolphin Adfree?:

Modded site?: (answer yes or no)

Fresh dolphin install?: (answer yes or no)

Shared hosting or dedicated server?:

Hosting provider: (just the name, no link)

Your error: (post error messages too and remember to replace your hosting username with xxxxx in error messages)

------------

If anyone feels I have missed something. Please add it in your comment and I will update this post. I hope this is helpfull.

Good tips and ideas. Aside from this I see a lot of I get this error...or that error, but no info regarding what you have suggested nor do I see any info regarding what page, what one was doing, or any other clue as to what caused the problem. Not always, but often times we could reduce a lot of the trouble shooting if one would post more details. 50 questions might be reduced to 10 and the problem or issue could potentially be identified much faster.

see moreIm sure this will help members work out how best to ask their questions, but one other tip i can give here, is in the naming of your thread.

"My dolphin dont work"

"Please Help me"

Might be how you are feeling in your frustration but it doesnt help you or other members when using the search function for a specific question, or keywords. So try to at least make some attempt and naming your thread properly, trying to use as many search keywords as you can.
