Suggestion- New forum Post Editor

Hello,

Is it possible to perhaps look into an alternative editor to use in Dolphin something more user friendly.

I was going through a few forum postings(testing) and noticed the editor to a degree is very complicated for the regular user if not most users to figure out. I tried adding an image to the forum posting and i was stumped.

Maybe i missed an option somehwere along the way but its way too complcated for a regular user to add a simple image to the forum or for any posting for that matter.

When you click on the icon to add image, your presented with tabs even i couldn't figure out. Do we need mouse over options, the advanced tab, and asking to point to the URL of the image probably not the best approach.

Anyone else feel this way or is it just me, is there an easy way to upload images using the editor. I'm assuming the same editor is used through out the dolphin application but we need to make it more easy to use.. like unity site posting.

alternative editor?

Hello Robin,

Some people like all the extras and some don't. Many members that don't know what all the features are for or how to use them tend to just post simple plain text comments, blogs, etc.

It is possible to hide some of these extra's in dolphin and orca's tinymce editor. You would simply remove some of the buttons and plugins from the editor by editing a few lines of code. This depending on what exactally you would want to remove or make un-available to your site members, and also whether see more just the forum editor only, or the blog post editor, classified, guestbook, etc.

I think they have a lot of options as some do like them. It seems like it would be easier to remove them, than it would be to add them for most.

At any rate if there was certain features, buttons, pluggins that you were wanting to remove I could point you in the right direction.

But if you wanted certain buttons removed or hidden it would be helpful to know which ones, as well as for the forum editor only or the above mention too.

If you would like to know how to remove the html button for example I have written this guide. You can follow the same information to remove other buttons and plugins as well.

You should get the idea. If not message me. I'll do my best to help you out.

I wanted to add a certain question to this thread:

How could i increase the text which the3 editor is writing by default?

Default is 10 point and i want to increase it to 12 point textsize.

Thanks for help

Any responses to this? Is there any way to implement a different editor?

I agree with Robin, the way to input images is pretty confusing. Also, how do you enter links to i.e. pdfs???

Boonex team, any ideas?
