Guys, I don't often write in caps, but in this case I'm compelled to do so. Before I do, let me tell you my background so you can understand where I'm coming from. I have 25+ years of software development experience, with the last 13 being on the net, and the last 10 being in the e-commerce space. I have an MBA from Columbia University, and run a software dev shop in Asia. As you can see from my credentials I have some knowledge of what I'm about to say.
STOP MAKING CHANGES! YOU ARE INTRODUCING MORE BUGS THAN YOU ARE SOLVING. WE DON'T NEED COOL NEW FUNCTIONALITY RIGHT NOW WE NEED A STABLE PLATFORM THAT DOESN'T BREAK EVERY TIME I LOOK AT IT. SLOW DOWN YOUR RELEASE SCHEDULE. ADDRESS THE BUGS AND THE DISSATSIFIED CUSTOMERS BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY MORE CHANGES. I WILL HAVE A VERY DIFFICULT TIME RECOMMENDING YOUR PHENOMENAL PRODUCT UNTILL IT'S STABLE AND THAT WILL FORCE ME TO LOOK AT ALTERNATIVES. SOMETHING I DO NOT WANT TO DO.
End Caps. Please, STOP with the changes for now. Humans have a limit to how much new stuff they can accept and since Social Networking is primarily dealing with humans you have to be very careful about how many changes you introduce and how often. I'd even be willing to pay more than the annual license if the product was more stable.
I've said in many posts, and still say, boonex releases new versions of dolphin with too less time gap between them. By the time one modifies one version according to his needs and launches a site, boonex comes wid the next version. And this condition is faced by many people. They loose all of their mods and have to start again after upgrading. With these regular upgrades and mods, the system develops bugs in it...and slowly we reach a point when the next upgrade may just destroy see more
sad thing is they stop working on the older version so the few bugs still on it never get addressed and that means there'll never be a stable version of dolphin
STOP MAKING CHANGES. RIGHT NOW!
Guys, it's obvious to me that you have a full blown rebellion on your hands right now and that the only reason that these users are still here is because of how great your product is.
We don't want 4-5 releases per year. We want 1 stable one. If you want to see other Open Source packages that do the release see more
And ofcourse a stable product in all sections.
