Stresstests?

We have tested Dolphin 6.0.0003 and 6.0.0004 on Wamp during a long period of time and yes there are still many bugs and what we call logical bloopers.
What we are hoping for is version 6.1 which will solve a lot of issues, due to Boonex.

Until it's released we concentrate on technical questions, See below

1. Have anyone out there stresstested Dolphin, Ray, Orca etc. regarding members, members online at the same time etc.
Has it what it takes to host, for instance 1.000.000 members and 10.000 members online at the same time?

Anyone who know?

2. Are there any major sites, with a lot of members, out there, using Dolphin, Ray, Orca?,

Please advice

I dont think comparing a real world experience with using WAMP is really comparable.

Yes we have built sites with excess of 100,000 users and a variable of that for concurrent users online.

If you have 1,000,000 users, I am not sure why you are looking at a free script.

the more users, the more database optimization that needs to be done, and system resources need to be scaled.

We have Dolphin running in a GRID (Cluster) and it can handle larger loads and capacity.

Thanks for your reply
Who has mentioned Wamp and capacity, we have not.

We didn't say we have 1.000.000 users, we asked if Dolphin....

I too would be interested in hearing from people who have a large population on there site using dolphin. dolphin.us has well ove 2000 users but they dont count.

You always have to think ahead in terms of resources. Current hosting company i'm with doesnt support clustering but at the same time i looked around and not too many offer clustering technology without paying the big $$$.

you have to meet resources with cost. With my current hosting company, they offere 1500gb of storage space at see more $100/year which you need if your running a multimedia site like Dolphin. on the other hand, i have seen companys offereing clustering technology but the storage lspace is ess then 1gb which wont last too long if your seriouse about building a multimedi social/dating site these days.

Again, love to hear from other members who do have large numbers on there dolphin site and there experience with performance and what they did to resolve the problems.

Hello,

I am not sure if its only my browser or not but I see:

both WAMP and 1,000,000 ??

Robin,

We will be offering a very competitive clustered solution in the next week or 2.

Let's rephrase and start from the beginning.

1. Forget about WAMP

2. Have anyone out there tested or are there any Dolphin, Ray, Orca sites with large populations

Example:
More than 500K members and 10K members online at the same time?

3. Which part of Dolphin, Orca, Ray is the most recourseconsuming?

4. At what point(amount of population/ online population) is it nessesary with clustered hardware?

If you need more information for a reply, please ask

Allwin,

Yes we have developed , designed and are operating Dolphin sites with close to an average of 100K members.

You might be a bit hard pressed to find site owners or operators that are going to give out URLs to large population sites, as it tends to bring out the idiots of think they can hack or break into everything and it just slows sites down.

As well it makes it a target.

for which part of Dolphin is the most resource intensive, that would depend on the type of site you are running, see more if your site is going to be alot of Video Chat, then you will have more resource allocation to streams.

Out of the box, I found that Dolphin and Ray (more so Ray) had the biggest consumtion with out a specific use.

Your Question in regards to at what point do you need to look at upgrading or clustering, etc. This really depends on the site and what type of site and traffic it generates.

having 500,000 users reading a blog and looking at pictures is different then 500,000 users watching videos and Video Chat.

Hope this helped alittle
