Many of you may already be aware of project honeypot. This is a free service started a while ago to help webmasters reduce the instances of spam and bots on their sites. The same folks who created this service now have a great new one where they are offering FREE, (you heard this correctly) FREE cloud hosting and security wrapped up into one simple to use service called CloudFlare. What this service does is allow you to utilize their cloud services to cache your site's static content on them thereby reducing the page load times, bandwidth on your own server and much more. At the same time, it is keeping an eye out for bots and suspicious activity on your site. This is still a beta product but will remain free. There will be paid levels of service, but the free stuff is awesome in it's own right. Just do a search for Project Honeypot or CloudFlare and it will take you to all the info you will need to sign up for your free account. I followed their directions and within a few minutes had 4 of my sites set up with them. My sites are loading much quicker now and even if my server goes down, my sites will remain up in cache until I get the server back online. Oh, and in 48 hours their security prevented 48 Bot attempts from Belarus and Iran from accessing my sites and attempting to create fake accounts. It will ALSO warn your visitors if their system is infected with any potential junk that could infect your web sites.
