Questions for experts and ad free license holders...

I'm running tests on two different client sites and I'm having a few issues...
Without spending a ton of time ripping through the code to figure this software out... if someone could help...

1) I want to make the sites so it can only signup men or women.

2) I want to change the age limit on one of the sites to 10-17. I changed it in the advanced settings, but the front end doesn't reflect the changes. Also on the second time around I'm getting an open and write error admin.inc.php on line 1229. I have checked the permissions.. but if I logout and back in it goes away until the second save.

3) I deleted the classified ads menu from nav builder yet it still shows on the front end. Any ideas why? I have cleared the cache... still there...

4) If you pay for the ad free version do you actually get real instructions on how to use this software without needing to spend hours trial and erroring your way through the software?

Thanks,
Bob

Bob,

please clarify:

1) What other options are you seeing available for people to sign up as ? you can disable the couples if that is what you are referring too.

2) This can be looked at directly in the language files and db.

3)What do you mean you deleted ?? did you drag it out of the menu pane, or did you delete the actual box ?

4)the instructions are available to all, and either they are on the Wiki, some people use :

askboonex.com
boonexnerd.com
expertzzz.com

No need to see more spend hours on trial and error, I am sure everything you are wanting and or experiencing has been posted atleast once before and answered.

1) you can make your site to be joined by only men or women by editing the sex field in profile fields settings. Delete the option which you don't want to use. If required, also make similar changes to 'looking for' field.

2) For changing the age limit, go profile field settings and edit field date of birth. Make the required changes to the max and min values. This step also requires change in advanced settings which u've already made.

3) try doing it once again. Sometimes changes are not see more made due to some problems.

4) you pay only for ad-free license and not for any extra instructions. All dolphin docs can be found here: http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/DolphinDocs

Oh! Both of us commented together...:-)

1) I see now... changed and fixed it... but if there were better instructions like to change the age limits you have to change in both locations...

2) I think I figured out what is going on... once I changed the age on the profile then the error went away... again directions would have been nice... like you need to change the profile first... before changing the advanced settings.

3) I deleted the actual boxes from the navigation menu now I don't see them in the bottom selection area. Oops... see more So I guess I'll need to know how to get them back into the all items area. And on the Hompage builder I opened the classified box and unchecked the visible for member and guest... but it is still on the front page menu of the site... So what is the proper procedure to remove items /sections from the site?

4) I'll check out the other sites... expertzzz 95% of the time when I search for a question it is either unanswered or they want me to contribute... I'm not sure if I'm even going to use this software or not so I don't want to pay yet. And with the limited documentation / information I'm kinda gun shy...

Thanks for all your help...

Also... the search for the profiles are showing the old age settings... I can't seem to find it...

brown, there are thousands of answers at the expertzzz.com/forumz site..I personally have answered about 900 questions, you are not the first guy with them...please search there

I searched "age limit" and got an exact answer!
http://www.expertzzz.com/forumz/#action=goto&topic_id=14618

in answer to your 3- you have a nav bar prob that almost all admins get into...changing and moving things and ity breaks...to stop this from happening, use FF and IE one for admin one for looksee

to see more default it back emty "ProfilesDesc" in DB and reload values from the install/sql/v60.sql Profilesdesc section using the SQL link in phpmyadmin

also it would be wise to load up a test environment. When the sites go live, you wont want to even have a second of downtime for your clients.

have fun!

I have seen that you answer a ton of them...
You are the man...

I did what they suggested in the post you sent... but the search age is still showing up incorrect.

So I just searched for changing the age on the quick search 0 results...

And I did a search on quick search and got 4 none anwered my question and one gave me the
"You don't have rights to see these pages."

Then I search for browse profiles and got 3 "can't see this" and 1 for a diferent version and 1 see more that wasn't the answer...

I normally use dev servers... but these two sites are new and they aren't in a rush to get them up.

I use two different boxes to admin and view so I'm logged in as admin and a user at the same time.

And insead of having to redo all the settings all over again and entering all the licenses what table controls the Navigation Menu Builder so I can just reload sql for that part?

Thanks,
Bob
