About Project Trident

Built on the Windows Workflow Foundation, this scientific workflow workbench allows users to:

  • Automate analysis and then visualize and explore data
  • Compose, run, and catalog experiments as workflows
  • Capture provenance for each experiment
  • Create a domain-specific workflow library to extend the functionality of the workflow workbench
  • Use existing services, such as provenance and fault tolerance, or add new services
  • Schedule workflows over HPC clusters or cloud computing resources

Current Status: Microsoft Research is working in partnership with oceanographers involved in the NEPTUNE project at the University of Washington and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, to use Project Trident as a scientific workflow workbench. A workflow workbench prototype has been developed for evaluation and is in active use, while an open source version is being implemented for public release.

You do realize that the trident is an internationally recognized symbol, right?

Does anyone follow mythology?

Of course if you choose to call your product Poseidon, trident is the obvious pick for a logo. In this case, of course it can get a bit confusing when we're talking about two open-source application suites with the same image. I wonder if Boonex Poseidon was renamed Trident because of this?

Poseidon Linux has been around since 2004, major releases from 2008 onward, and I believe they were the first Poseidons on the block.

Boonex's Poseidon/Trident has been "in development since 2003" see more under several names, but I am still somewhat unclear what exactly has been done and what will be done. I have been trying to ask about the whereabouts of Trident, and would be interested in some sort of status update on its progress.

Trident information and progress notes, anyone?

Wasn't Poseidon that ship that sunk to the bottom of the ocean?

So Dolphin sunk 1100 meters down under then. Thanks for sharing the news --- I hear through the grapevine the reason may have been too much bourbon, or perhaps vodka, though the official version questions the "ability of both the vessel and its crew to handle large anchors in such deep water".

I'll have to go grab my scuba gear and a wiccle winch to go, and see what we can do about it --- seems to have sunk right in the neighborhood here, and our recovery service is always available see more to help those in need.

* Protest says cut Trident not jobs *
"About 1,000 people have joined an anti-nuclear protest in Edinburgh calling for the scrapping of Trident."

Poseidon was the greek god of sea, after the Roman empire took everything in the region they also decided to change their gods with the dodekatheon (12 greek gods that did all the work). So the changed the name to something they would feel familiar with, as Neptune. They did so to other gods as well, such as Athena now called Minerva. As for why i did this post, i just had 3 minutes to spend for no reason.(better than working)
