Point Scoring for Posts.

Boy you can tell who you rub the wrong way. The points scoring system here is cute. I think the whole system is nice in theory, but the possibility of abuse is also there too.

Yeah, it's been a point of discussion before.

Amusingly I had amassed minus two points yesterday - for re-posting up my free mods. Fortunately when I checked again this morning I was back to zero. Good job too - as I was about to take them all back down again.

it's generally the nutswingers giving drive-by-negs without actually reading the posts.

You guys are worried about 2 points? I recently lost 1200 points in a few hours. Must have had something to do with my charismatic aura.

It's not like I am worried about it- its a useless feature and anyone with some smarts knows you'll see drive by's. Its just a dick method for remaining anonymous when you're too afraid to voice an opinion.

I just noticed it and thought "wow, yet another way to pee in the sandbox and get your diaper changed before the rest become the wiser".

@HL - it wasn't the number of points - Just that someone had negged me for posting free stuff. I'm happy to take the flack for my opinion - but for trying to be helpful?? This was the whole ethos behind my involvement in that thread.

BTW. Did you ever get your points back?

Yeah.. they gave the points back. Not sure what they're good for though. You should at least be able to redeem them for stuffed animals or something.

I would much prefer clocks that make an animal noises or maybe a two footed slipper (obviously in different colours).

but actually what are these points usefull for ...can anybody explain ...
cbassthefish
Nothing really magic123. Maybe a little kudos for people that help on the forums. However they are unable to redeem those points in a real life setting.

i do not know the use of the points system currently. i know in the past Andrew had used the number of points to award all members with an ad-free license version. based on the number of points for every x points you were awarded an additional ad-free license.

essentially on a day-to-day basis, the points positive of negative are useless, boonex holds onto the system, so they must have some plans for utilizing them in the future.
