Need a better web host for Dolphin+Ray+Ocra - NOT HFW!!

Who has experience with a good web hosting service company?? (NOT HFW) Can anyone recommend a hosting service they have had positive experience with that can host Dolphin+Ray+Ocra and is reasonable price with good service (preferably can use the phone).

I tried Host For Web ... they failed miserably! When it came to simple communication forget it. Little things that should take normally 2 minutes ...in my case just a very very simple upgrade request to VSP as they told me when I signed up that their "basic" service would be enough to host the Dolphin+Ray+Oocra...but that was wrong and once having paid for that service they refused to upgrade it to the VSP I needed...without having to first communicate with their billing department where they made into a big messy and time consuming problem. It made no business sense and wasted many many hours typing back about the same thing over and over and back and forth because they WILL NOT TALK ON THE PHONE! And never believe a thing you tell them...are they on drugs or what I dont know. LOL Anyhow, Its been a nightmare now with over 25 emails. They make you type every darn little thing and do not believe anything you tell them...they refused to talk over the phone, even though their online forms stopped working and return only errors...they treat you as if your a liar when you let them know the forms online are not working...like over 5 times same result... and of all things demanded I send them a SCREEN SHOT OF IT "WITH URL FULLY VISABLE"!! ...Then treat you like an idiot and when you send the screen shot ignore it ...makes no difference they still refuse to anything!! They obviously are not the owners of the business and deserve to be fired...if I owned it I would have....I can't believe they are in business if not for being recommended by Boonex I don't think they could be. Honestly, Ive had my own business for over 4 decades and never ran into such CUSTOMER-NO-SERVICE as I got in their anal billing department. I would warn anyone to use another service...its wasted over 29 hours of my time writing dozens of emails non stop simply trying to get them to do a little upgrade! This would have been great skit for Monty Python! Seriously they are too full of themselves. Finally, I had no choice but to close and emailed them to close out my account there. They suddenly stopped emailing and instead stonewalled and refused to close out the account (wanting to keep the annual fee I paid a days ago!) I just got off the line and have reported them to my credit card company and may have to also to the local police Im not sure but the credit card company told me I may have to. I now need a customer friendly and reasonable priced hosting service...Like to have some choices as competition on this would be better for us who pay for the service....who does anyone recommend which has the hosting requirements ?? (I'm in the USA).

me i suggest you www.tektonic.net

i host my dolphin with this compagny and god know how long i search for a good hosting compagny with cheap price and offer vps account... they also offer unlimited bandwidth plan... very usefull when you have video file sharing....

the support is awsome... always offer a live chat support 24hr a day... personnally its my better suggestion... i have to change server 10 time before find this compagny... and now for sure i will stay with this hosting... better see more price and better space and memory offer than HFW... i personnally dunno why boonex still afiliate with this compagny who offer too expensive hosting account... for a script who actually will host most of the time... free community website..... i never understand that....

When installing, most people run into issues because all the default settings on your webhost assume you are an idiot. So they clamp down your php.ini file and fuck with your permissions so that you basically waste a full day installing whatever Dolphin, Drupal or Joomla, flavor of the month, you got goin. I am in the install phase, now, with this Ray and Orca pop up BS. I am a lil disappointed here. If I get spammed too much further, I might have to suffer through the Drupal 6 nightmare.

What you need to do is send your webhost the requirements sheet http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/DolTech#TechnicalRequirements
and have the helpdesk sign off on it. At that point, they should play ball with you and you stop getting all those horrible error messages.
They might even install crontab for you. Mine did.
Gd lck.

btw, how do I start a new post? Or is there some clever php program that screens newbies like me??
Ha, newbies have the odds stacked against them.
That's life.
Get used to it.
Or vote for Obama~

dBoon, don't feel bad not using host for web there are not worth what the publicity made them for , not professional, not polite, not knowing what they talk about.(i'm willing to talk to them " again" any time about their " so call "service" ) but i'm not willing to spend time on stupidity!

CyberXing. I switched from HFW to CX after a nightmare two weeks trying to get the site running on HFW I threw in the towel. CX did a clean install of the software, hooked me up with their third rail rms and it took less than 24 hours and that was with a DNS change.

A problem with uploading large files was still with me. I got CX support online with Skype and within an hour the problem was solved.

These folks are what's happening.

NOTE TO BOONEX MGT: Start recommending CX and drop HFW. They see more bait and switch on the hosting (Yes they are set for Dolphin. However, if you want to run Ray and Orca you have to upgrade to their VPS at a small extra charge of $40 a month).

Do your clients a favor and recommend CyberXing!

So I am a newbie, installing this Dolphin today, and now when I try to upload a video (as the Admin) the software logs me out and asks me to login. I type in the credentials but Dolphin has banished me.
wtf.
I would love to hear from anyone that was successful in uploading a video to Dolphin within 24 hrs of install.
This has totally ruined my day. Drupal 6 isn't looking so bad after all...
This Dolphin is not so open source, very sneaky propietary methinks..
comments??
I dont believe the 'admin' can upload videos. I've never tried but you might want to try as a user.

I've been using http://www.hostgator.com/ for quite a while now for several of my websites including http://no2ns.com and all I can say is the service is fantastic.

I have been using HFW for 1 and a half years now and have had no problem with them and or commuincating with them as far as I am concerned HFW has been great for me.

I agree with you therock
I am with HostForWeb too, about 2 and a half years and never had any problem with this hosting company. Every time i need support, 24 hours a day, they are there to help me. And believe me, before HostForWeb, i had tried many hosting companies...

I do not recommend bluehost at all. Getting a refund from them (after use of only a week or two) was awful. I had to report them to Paypal just to get my refund.

When I was using 1and1, I was designing and editing my sites using various html editors. Needless to say, I am not sure whether or not they can service Boonex apps.

The service from 1and1 was great at first but then all the sudden went to the very end of the spectrum.
I use www.hostupon.com they are AMAZING ^^
