I smell a using too many resources, your account is suspended notice.
gameutopia
Best guess is they are willing to pay a certain amount for referrals. Which is fine and dandy if they can come through and provide a decent service, but for a few dollars per month one has to wonder if they really can handle it like the others on the list. They can handle a couple of visitors but not much more than that at a given time.

If you are serious about dolphin and don't understand server administration and need a little extra power or push then you really should go with http://terabyte-hosting.com/

Terabyte see more really should be on the list as the preferred, but I guess a good quality host that doesn't meet the minimum give all my money to boonex for my quality dolphin hosting service matters or something.

I guess $3-$7 per month hosting that suspends everyone for a couple of visitors that pays big bucks matters more.

Bottom line is I understand Boonex needs some paying sponsers. That's a no brainer. But they need to toss in a few quality ones too. Boonex has to pay the bills and this is better than ads all over the site, but give the quality boonex provider a little plug too.

I hope this new PacificHost works out, but I wouldn't count on it for traffic over 5 visitors at a time.

For quality dolphin hosting you really need to spend a little more and go with:
http://terabyte-hosting.com/

Good luck with it.

I smell all these posts being deleted by Boonex because they are being paid by Pacifichost haha.

i am going to continue to dig. will be back.

ahha, here is a doozey. now they say they are going to offer hosting for dolphin, so i want to see what the deal is with TOS and TOU. as well all know there have been incidents that we have witnessed from the forum posts where accounts were suspended for excessive resource usage:

i had a chat with live support, and this is what i got from him. my main inquiry from this chat was what does 'unlimited bandwidth' actually mean.well we all know that an answer could not be provided but here is the conversation:

You see more are now chatting with Julian Vanzetti (Sales)

terabyte: julian how are you doing
Julian Vanzetti: Hello
Julian Vanzetti: How can I assist you?
terabyte: i am here to inquire about the dolphin hosting you are offering over on boonex.com
terabyte: i also have an inquiry in regards to your advert of "unlimited bandwidth" and what that actually consists of?
terabyte: this $2.95/month hosting, what exactly would one expect from such a package?
terabyte: do you have dolphin accounts on these servers now, and what is the lifespan of a dolphin account on one of these servers before one is in a position of forced upgrade.
terabyte: where are your terms of service and terms of usage, in regards to server resources, CPU and RAM
terabyte: what is the load capacity on the RMS servers that you offer/
DosDawg
Julian Vanzetti: Unlimited bandwith means we do not put a limit to the amount of traffic that is coming through the shared servers.Say like 500GB,1000GB...
terabyte: so the bandwidth is not metered, because in essence there is no such thing as 'unlimited bandwidth'
Julian Vanzetti: Here is an example of a dolphin account on out servers. http://merobook.com/
Julian Vanzetti: Please refer to http://www.pacifichost.com/tos.shtml
Julian Vanzetti: for our terms of services.
terabyte: ok thanks for see more that. now as for the terminology 'unlimited' i would like that defined as knowing full well there is no such beast as unlimited, so would like to know what this means on pacifichost.com
Julian Vanzetti: Like I told you.
Julian Vanzetti: You will not be warned of band with being exceeded beyond your limited value.
Julian Vanzetti: Is is mentioned in that sense.
terabyte: but surely there is a limit
Julian Vanzetti: It is unlimited in that sense.
terabyte: as unlimited bandwidth just truly does not exist
Julian Vanzetti: Like I told you.
Julian Vanzetti: It is unlimited in teh way that i specified.
terabyte: meaning that it is a farce
terabyte: ok next question, how many accounts do you put on one server for the dolphin hosting, are the servers that you are hosting dolphin on, configured specifically for dolphin, or are there other software running on those servers that may now have or in the future present conflicting configurations with dolphin?
Julian Vanzetti: I am unable to provide you that info.
DosDawg
terabyte: can you provide me with a contact who would have that type of information. as you may or may not know, dolphin is an extremely dynamic platform, that has some rather resource intensive moments, and to be able to utilize a server with a configuration compliant with the developers recommendations, you would basically have to have something dedicated to the dolphin platform.
terabyte: who there on the staff have used dolphin, and know its limits and bounds?
Julian Vanzetti: https://support.pacifichost.com/index.php?_m=tickets&_a=submit
Julian see more Vanzetti: Please post a ticket there.
Julian Vanzetti: in the presales department.
terabyte: ok great
Julian Vanzetti: We will follow you up on the details.
terabyte: indeed
Julian Vanzetti: Thank you.
terabyte: just doing a little research for the dolphin hosting platform, as i seen there was a post that pacifichost is now a 'preferred hosting provider' for the dolphin platform
Julian Vanzetti: We do provide dolphin support.
Julian Vanzetti: Please post a ticket for your entire queries.
terabyte: when you refer to dolphin support, can you elaborate on what you are calling dolphin support?
Julian Vanzetti: I am sorry,I meant we support Dolphin.
terabyte: meaning you dont support dolphin, but you will host the script
Julian Vanzetti: Yes,
Julian Vanzetti: that is correct.
terabyte: because the term 'support' would infer you have working knowledge of dolphin to be able to provide support should a client run into an issue with their site
Julian Vanzetti: That we do not provide
terabyte: correct
terabyte: thanks for your time, will submit a ticket and see what kinda of responses i can get from those inquiries that you were unable to answer.
DosDawg
so as you can see, the 'unlimited bandwidth' is once again called out and proven to be a tactic, because the unknowing would fall for such.

now i continued on my quest with this and read their TOS as suggested from the sales agent, and this is what i have found:

20. System and Network Resource Usage
An Individual Shared, Premium or Reseller Hosting account may not:

1. Use 25% or more of system resources for longer than 90 seconds. There are numerous activities that could cause such problems; see more these include: CGI scripts, FTP, PHP, HTTP, etc.
2. Run any type of interactive real-time chat applications that require server resources. Remotely-hosted services are fully allowed.
3. Run stand-alone, unattended server-side processes at any point in time on the server. This includes any and all daemons, such as IRCD.
4. Run any software that interfaces with an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) network.
5. Run any BitTorrent application, tracker, or client.
6. Run any type of web spider or indexer (including Google Cash / AdSpy)
7. Participate in any file-sharing/peer-to-peer activities
8. Run any gaming servers such as Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Battlefield 1492, etc.
9. Run cron entries with intervals of less than 15 minutes.
10. When using PHP include functions for including a local file, include the local file rather than the URL. Instead of include("http://yourdomain.com/include.php") use include("include.php")

PacificHost hosting accounts operate on shared resources. Excessive use or abuse of these shared system and network resources by one customer may have a negative impact on all other customers. PacificHost reserves the right to suspend or terminate any hosting account deemed to adversely affect server performance or network integrity.
DosDawg
ok lets focus some attention on a few of these rules here:

1. use 25% or more of system resources for longer than 90 seconds. we know that dolphin has had some issues with resource usage on a site with no activity so this would warrant a suspension immediately according to TOS ITEM 20.

2. run any type of interactive real-time chat applications that require server resources. DUH AV CHAT warrants suspension

7. file-sharing peer-to-peer. both video and audio is a form of P2P, and there is also see more the file sharing module on Dolphin 7. reason for suspension there as well.

9. Run cron entries with intervals of less than 15 minutes. SUSPENDED as well all know, Dolphin supposedly requires the cron to fire every minute.

ok so with this, and i am not beating these guys up because they want to step on the scene and host dolphin. I am showing what is the truth. their TOS stipulate the rules and under the laws of the US which is where this hosting entity is located, according to the whois, if you violate these TOS, which most do not read, then you are SOL.
I can tell you that a hosting account for Dolphin is not all that difficult to set up. I've got a Dell Poweredge 1800 dual-core Xeon 2.8 Ghz with 2 gigs ram and 1 terrabyte actual storage space for my /home accounts running Debian Lenny and a standard XAMP setup with echp virtual hosting control panel. This setup handles a Dolphin install perfectly right after the initial install package of the above. I've actually got several dolphin 6.16 and 7 setups on there for testing and am getting ready see more to move my live site over to it. I'll bump up the memory to 12 gigs first and add a second CPU as I'll also be installing Flash Server 4 on it, but in testing, it handles a load quite well. There is no reason ANY host shouldn't be able to provide a good basic foundation to run Dolphin outside of specific php or security settings. I've also tested Dolphin 6/7 on Red Hat enterprise, Ubuntu Server and a few other linux variations before deciding upon the Debian. BTW, I've been in conversation with the developer of the ehcp hosting control panel to see about having Dolphin as one of the pre-installed packages for their easy install scripts. So far, he's interested in doing it. (He has about 33 pre-installed easy-install scripts incorporated into it already).

No one can compete with the Dawg. The Dawg rules.
DosDawg
call em as i see em fellow dolphinites. i really do not like seeing the innocent taken advantage of, and that is exactly what a post of this magnitude leads to. because a person new to this community would see oh, andrew boon has posted that pacifichosting.com is great, when in all actuality no such thing has been determined. what was determined is that pacifichost.com agreed to pay boonex $100.00/per referal.

I have done this before, and will continue to do this, because ladies and gentlemen see more the math dont work out.

OK pacifichost says they will host dolphin for $7.95/month

Mathematically Speaking here
One Referal
-$100.00
$ 7.95
--------------
-$92.05 (off the bat) yes you just paid Boonex to allow you to host their script

Regards,
DosDawg
DosDawg
now the person interested in hosting presents another situation --> are they going to stay long enough for the account to show profit?

for this account to break even, it will need to be hosted 12.57 months, and that is to break even. now if boonex was working towards fixing the bugs that have been reported, and provide the features that tend to be sold from their premier developers, which are features that should have been included in the release, features that were part of other releases see more that were removed, only to be added to the market on this last release.

Im not suggesting these developers should not create addon modules, but why are they adding functionality to default features that were released. i truly see it as a huge conflict of interest to have your developers also selling as contract developers in the market. so to host this application for 1 year just to break even, you have to put reliance on boonex doing the right thing with their application. which thus far, and i mean from v5 Dolphin, so many things have been promised that are not delivered. so you have to host this $7.95/month account for one year, and in the event that they do hang in there, and continue with your hosting mr pacifichost, only the 12.57/month will you start to see a profit.

now consider me the anguished host because i am not on their list of preferred hosting. quite the contrary, because if you are actually part of the community, then there are certain people that are staff here who will hold that fact over your head, and threaten to remove you from that list.

you know in essence, i am the one partly responsible for proving a shared platform for Dolphin will work, and i dont think it has been replicated.

so i bid you good luck in this venture mr pacifichost, and as you are answering the support tickets that this application presents to us as hosting providers, are you going to do as the romans do, and direct them to the forums, and inform them that that is a developer issue and they need to take it up with the developer?

see i checked y our fellow see more on his terminology today, when he hurried up and stated that you 'support' dolphin. uh huh, then to find out, he just had a loose tongue, and there is no support whatsoever for the dolphin application. i do want to inform you sir, if you dont have staff readily available to answer inquiries about this application, if you can setup an amortization on your losses you take to be able to host the dolphin script, you can watch your own demise mathematically speaking.
sandalsonly
And of course we all checked out the example that was givin by Pacific coast " MeroBook.com" There is nothing really there yet. A couple photos and tha'ts it!
I would like to see a live dolphin script work before I would even consider it.
@Dos Dawg-You did great! Thank you for the info.
I have one site already with another hosting company and so far its doing ok, and it is live so I dont want to move it yet, but I am fixing to build another when 7.0.2 comes out and you are on the top see more of the list of host that I am considering! again, Thank you!

Derrick
DosDawg
thank you derrick, this was not about dogging pacifichost.com i know they are most likely on top of their game when it comes to standardized scripts such as wordpress or joomla, but dolphin is a beast, and you have to know how to hold on when you grab the reigns on this baby. just because you have a server and the desire to make a nickel, does not necessarily qualify you to host dolphin. there is much more to it than that.

i.e. i just sent out 300 emails last night, (not 300 customers) in regards see more to the post in the forum, about the database credentials being exposed. not all of my clients are able or knowledgeable enough to implement that hack provided on the forum, and in this case, Terabyte Hosting Solutions, will take care of those accounts, and try to ensure they are running the safest platform possible on our equipment.

LOL!

Well, I'm thinking this place sounds a lot like one of our other "preffered hosts' (Arvixe?)

Excellent work Dawgman......

DosDawg, I would have to remove your comments from this post shortly, since even though you come up with some interesting and helpful information, there is an apparent conflict in interests. You offer hosting services too, and if needed it is easy to present things in a negative manner. There is a good chance that PacificHost or whoever else may in fact be better than you in managing Dolphin hosting accounts.

So, since you're a hosting provider and a moderator too, please stay away from hosting see more "more info" pages, please. If you want to post an informative note about "how to choose DOlphin hosting right", without advertising and anti-advertising, that would help a bunch. You are also very welcome to open a Forum discussion and let actual clients share their opinions. Take WHT for example - hosting providers are not allowed to directly criticize each other.
DosDawg
Andrew,
the only conflict of interest here is that i dont lie to those who are unknowing and seeking hosting for this application. Easy, you state, sir, what i have presented here is factual, i engaged in a conversation with their technical support, that is not a made up conversation. I read their terms of service, this is a conflict of facts for them to state they are fully compatible with Dolphin, and it clearly states that you cannot have a chat application on these servers.

If you feel you see more need to remove my post, by all means please do so, which only would lead me to believe you wish to hide the truth, whether or not i posted this information or not. If you were aware of the accounts i have had to rescue from those 'so called' more information about hosting pages hosting service providers, you would appreciate what information i have posted here, since clearly this questionaire was filled out without checking the factuals on the answers.

yes there is a good chance PacificHost or whoever may in fact be better to manage Dolphin Hosting Accounts, but i seriously doubt it.
'
i will refrain from the 'more info pages' about hosting, as long as the truth is written. i will not as a community member allow for deception as a lure to be utilized by any hosting service or any other service. as a knowledgeable hosting service provider, i know exactly where to poke around at for those hidden tricks, and dig out the truth. the truth is all that i am after. I have not criticized anybody, i have stated the facts the truth, and every member deserves to know the truth.

It is the worst hosting service I've ever seen! Do not use it ever! I was careful not to take the VPS Developer Plan ($ 400 per year) For the money I received a 300 MHz CPU! And as soon as the server is running with a dolphin, he was overloaded and shuts down. Support without hesitation turned off PHP modules are not reading all that where and when they had to include no one knew that off. And I still find mistakes throughout the site! Furthermore It has been 20 days!! But I do not work either video see more downloads or video chat or video comments and more. In addition, the site is not being screened for download because the main page is loaded for 30 seconds!! Now I am looking for a new hosting. And finally appreciate the level of support for their post to me in response to the complete list of my problems they have removed (not closed) my support tickets and have written -
" I would like to help you with this issue but I cannot do so if you continue TO SPAM us with multiple tickets." Felix Rojas

http://www.web-hosting-top.com/web-hosting/web-hosting-top.pacifichost.com-reviews

Dear see more community,

After seeing this review (read on the link abow) , I feel compelled to explain our side of the story to the public.

In a period of 1 month, Silaris has created many duplicate tickets, opened several closed tickets, generally spammed our ticket system, and abused our staff members multiple times.

In addition, it was found that he was hosting illegal MP3 files on his account. ))))))

The e-mail he references is a valid e-mail from us. Unfortunately, we did have a big issue on his server that has now been corrected.(lie) We have processed every cancellation resulting from that issue and refunded those who qualified.

Due to these many transgressions by Silaris, we decided to terminate his account. We provided him with full backups of his data and he has plenty of time now to download these backups.

We will not be refunding Silaris because of the nature and severity of his transgressions.

Well as you see this company is based on lies and deceit! I have proof of more than 100 violations of their obligations prescribed in the user agreement. I will publish all if need be. They do not get dozens of people cheat and steal money from them!

I have been running a PHP Nuke site for 10 years. Decided to replace it with Dolphin. I have nothing but great things to say about Pacific Host. I switched over from a Reseller Account with HostGator after 6 years to a VPS with Pacific Host to run Dolphin. So far it has been a pleasant experience.

When I setup my account, I requested to have the RMS/FMS, FFMpeg, Red5 and anything else required for an optimal Dolphin site. Everything was ready within 24 hours. Installing Dolphin was a see more breeze, plus all the the RMS components are fully functional.

The Sales person, Chris, was awesome. I was very nervous about moving all my sites to an unknown hosting company, but he was very patient and eased all my worries. Plus, he gave me a monthly discount.

As I am new to the VPS environment, the Tech Support has been very responsive and focused on problem resolution in a timely manner.

Overall, I am very pleased with them and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a dependable hosting company for their Dolphin site.
