Microsoft has published a research paper on Gazelle, an experimental "multi-principal OS" for the Web. But it's not actually an operating system; it's really a browser prototype that runs on Windows, and it just might be the future of browsing. Ars takes a close look at the technology behind Gazelle to show you how it compares to Chrome and Internet Explorer.

Maybe we can drag and drop each other modules into our website...

Imagine a syndicated life-experience social platform that even a 3 year old can work with...dragging and dropping modules contacts and apps from anywhere (and i mean all social sites)... the future is syndication and activity feeds!

All you need is a clear and broad enough specification to accommodate modules, and you might end up building some connection bridges for popular modules not matching the specification. Everything on top of it, such as a new Microsoft browser supporting a new set of standards, is primarily an attempt to create and monopolize on a new trend.

If it's up to Microsoft, they will try to hold Web 2.0 in their iron fist with the latest twist. I have a gut feeling other, more open and less proprietary see more platforms will be chewing on their market share before they are anywhere near release.

As the rebellion started with Linux a few years ago, i still have hopes for mankind ;)

Big corporations tend to be sitting with their thumbs up their butts, stagnated in their structures and whatnot, and it takes forever for new technologies to roll out. Google shows promise, but I'd like to see them doing some of their more progressive stuff at a much better pace.

it's like other technologies...they got to sell what they develop now for a decade in order to make enough...someone releases the advance, they move too.
New technology is everywhere, they'd be out of business (ultraprofit that is) if they released it in time...darn ceos

But that's just so wrong. Why capitalize on stagnation? Why grow new potatoes this year, we still have plenty to sell from last year's stock? If you have to drag on and on with the same old products, justifying it by covering all the research and development costs, it suggests your infrastructure may not be terribly effective, and is probably riddled with lots of redundant hops. Or otherwise you're just a bit short on new ideas, which is your bad. Old dies and new is born, that's the cycle and wiccle see more of life.

I guess others(apple, google) have to create HYPE to popularize their products... but M$ can release new products as SP1,2 etc and thus it lands straight into millions of desktops already...
