Hookie Alpha Build 13
We've just updated the demo at http://www.demozzz.com/dolphin7a/. We had to add a few extra features to the initial plan (store, shopping cart, better membership levels, etc), so we'll be rolling a few more Alpha builds before going on to Beta stage. This particular update may not look significant, but some progress can be well seen:
- user status: user can be online, offline, away, busy
- status message: the Twitter/Facebook latest craze
- media albums made some progress
- floating member menu improved (any suggestions on this one are very welcome, since it's a new toy)
- some work with titles and title zones
- cache for templates
- google maps profiles seatch
- Sites module is almost in (think about making something like Digg/Pligg)
- bug-fixing and smaller changes.
The next build is planned to bring more consistency and stability, as well as SEO and performance improvements. And in about 2 weeks I hope we'll get the source code out for download.
We hear complaints about performance/speed. Here's a thing. Dolphin 7 is fast. It should be way faster than D6, but so far we still have buggy queries/code here and there.
Anyway, this time we'll be testing and fixing and improving until it is really smooth and stable. No matter how much time/money it takes Dolphin 7 will be remembered as an absolutely reliable product.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
I am really looking forward to the integration of open inviter as we discussed and working with the betas.

It may well be easier to integrate Oscommerce or similar in than developing a whole new shopping cart/e-store - I dont know, thats for you to decide.
Be very nice if we could add phpbb3 in as a plugin /extension - I know I sound like a stuck record but these issues are very important to me

I advised her that my greatest recommendation is to allow me to install Dolphin's script as her best choice for what she is wanting to build and she told me to do everything I can to get YouTube integrated into her site so this is definitely a very strong selling point for this script.

1. A next button when inside the photo albums would be sweet...so that a person doesnt have to keep clicking backpage....like in myspace when u enter someone's photo album and view a image...u have a next and previous button...to navigate with....
2. In forums when u inside a topic...a member will scroll down the page reading the post...but then must scroll all the way back to the top to find the "REPLY" see more

when i click on CHAT i get this : 57 You have manually removed BoonEx footers without paying for the right to. Please, go to BoonEx.com and order the ad free licenses to be able to use your site without BoonEx footers. They will be automatically removed as soon as you register your ad free licenses. Please, put the __boonex_footers__ key back into Dolphin template.
Also the login page seems to not display the login box. I did not get the url but the link was displayed after the password retrieve confirmation. I clicked it but there was no login feilds displayed.

please remove the get members email from your script or make it an option for admin to remove. Here in the states thats not a fav of members.
Also privacy, take a look at sites such as facebook myspace and http://www.socialenginedev.com/home.php <--very good script a 12 on a scale to of 1-10 for features and look and feel.
Leaving these mods to contributors to develop only creates costly problems for companies like mine who have spent $1,000 + on buying simple features from see more
Here in the states this market is considered our money makers so what they think really matters. We spend a great deal of time on college campuses and shopping malls asking their opinions on social networking sites and the features they like and dislike.

- possibility to member to select HIDE in the position option... if the user dont want to see it....
- instant message blinking.... the number of instant message awaiting a reply blinking directly on the user menu... so when the user browse the website... anywhere he go.. he can be warn immediatly when he receive a new instant message...

Also, Could you please fix the bug with the Ray Chat. Empty text can be passed with the hit of the enter key.
I know it has been moved under the section that comes under My Alias.
The Add Post option should also be visible when we go to Blogs sections also.
Also blog editor has been replaced with a simple text editor that does not have any option to add an image. This has commmented by someone too. I too want to vote for it.
(1) Extensive Privacy options, similar to Facebook & Agriya's Kootali
(2) Networks similar to Facebook. One of your competitors, Agriya, created excellent Networks feature in its Kootali script. The Networks must also integrated with the Privacy options.
I wonder why none of Dolphin's independent developers has done Networks module, even though it is a very important feature at Facebook. Is it too difficult to implement ?
Networks can be a good step on the way to V8 with multidomain.
Same for the giant music player box...also if you upload two songs they both start playing on the profile page. see http://www.demozzz.com/dolphin7a/odare24 - So it makes sense to have an option to make a song 'your profile song' see more

Hmm something is up with this...First i click friend requests in the tool bar at the bottom, then i choose from magicdust reqests ( i have 4 pending) but nothing shows up, then i click friends see more
but I think what is lacking in dolphin
it is the search by region / state
I do not understand why you do not add
for sites that are a single country - the members love to be able to see and looking for members close

why not change to:

Country + region or state + department or counties

And most of the items of this "floating menu" are redundant (at least for now)...
IMHO it will be more smart to replace Daily Quotes with this "floating menu".
Is there a single good reason for this menu to be "floating" or is that just for the fun ???
Incredible work on Google maps !!! WOW !!! Still never seen as clever ergonomics as that anywhere else !

Dolphin should become fully open source. Contributors, should make free contrib modules and boonex should pay the contrib for residuals for their services.
It's only fair because i can go to places like Drupal and Elgg and get free modules instead of getting ripped off by some guy who can make the simplest functions for free.The reason I'm posting this is because it would stop the endless amount of people that are paying for modules and a new dolphin is coming out. I'm new to Dlophin but beginning to love it now I'm getting to grips with it.
one of the things I'd love to see (there may already be a modulefor it which i have not found yet) is for local bands to be able to sell their tracks off the site.
Would be a way for people to purchase a high qualty mp3 for download and for the admin to keep track of what sold so we could pass on to the artists their portion.
may be with integration for payment to patpal or google as well as the main card see more
Aramis has already done some nice CSS menus (no tables), couldn't this be included in the new version?
To not include this feature would keep this software in yesterday's world.

When adding Additional fields for entry, the previous file details are copied, it is not blank to start with.
Adding albums is confusing, and if adding multiple photos, and creating a new albums, the other entries do not update to show the new album - how do you add all images to the album when creating it first?
There is no form box when adding additional albums - have to guess to click somewhere around the entry form.

For now the site content display area is 305X305 px but we already planned to limit this area to 12x12 px in the next version...

I know D7 still under development, but Boonex should provide to the comunity the language file so we can start to translate it.
That would make non english sites using D7 more fast to be online after upgrading
Downgrading the Blog Text Editor to "Text Only" causes a major problem for us. Our site features six professional "Paid" bloggers and we need to provide them with professional editing tools including HTML, Frames, Upload Images, etc.
Please let us know if you are going to fix this problem or if we should plan to integrate a third party Blog script.
A possible solution might be to offer site owners the administrative "choice" between a simple see more
Regretably, the Add Event Text Editor has been downgraded like the Blog editor from a full featured text editor to a nearly useless "Text Only" editor.
This drastic change prevents us from uploading images, HTML, Event Flyers, and so forth
Please don't do this! We need professional full featured text editing throughout our websites.

They probably have some good reason for not having all the editing controls in place at the moment. I'm pretty sure the guys at Boonex aren't going to do something goofy like restrict blog entries to plain text.

I am beginning to make some sense out of V7 but without admin access it's difficult to fully evaluate.
Among our bloggers is a concealed hundgun instructor, a personal survival expert, a self defense instructor and several others. Imagine trying to instruct these disciplines without a full set of tools.

I tried to test the features of D7, but it is really too slow at this moment.
I was just wondering if there is a feature to write mails to all participants of an event at once. In D6 I had to write them one by one if I wanted to contact them through private message.
So there should be an option to write messages to all event participants at once.
and a results page or something so everybody can see which user has give him/her up for the votes and the standing.

Now in 6.1.4 you can bulid a custom HTML which is great. This would be an option to open an external webpage under one of the main menu buttons. The header of Dolphin (with menus) stays the same, just the content below that changes to whatever you want.

BLOCKED MEMBERS
Please check that Blocked Members are really blocked (cannot reach the profile, post comments, etc...) ;-)
Display "Members I blocked", but not "Who blocked me" that could make the blocked member angry...
The W3C Markup Validation Service found 487 code errors and 90 warnings while checking http://www.demozzz.com/dolphin7a
We know this is a work in progress but this represents an enormous amount of coding errors and no doubt it will take a great deal of time and effort to clean up. This is a critical issue because unless this code is standardized the Dolphin web pages will appear differently depending upon the browser being used.

What we realy need for SEO are good browsing Structure with many landing pages! For example:
girls-australia
boys-australia
girls-chicago
boys-chicago and so on...
So we could optimise the urls and the metas for each landingpages. each page could rank local with other dating portals!
Think about it please, we can just optimise seperat landingpages its IMPORTANT!
Why dont you post some Suggestive D7 templates so we all can vote on that?
