I think you should reïnstall the htaccess file and edit it by removing this line:"php_flag register_globals Off"
I had the same problem as you, but removing that line worked perfect.

line 508 =
mb_internal_encoding('UTF-8');

replace it with
internal_encoding('UTF-8');

so delete
mb_

I did that...got:

delete the whole line

Still isnt working...I have contacted godaddy who is the host on this and they tell me that all my settings on the server are right...I have tried to reinstall all the files, I have edited the htacess file in the install folder, I have changed line 508 in the index script, I have tried to delete line 508 and i still cant get this to install...what I am getting now is..Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please see more contact the server administrator, support@supportwebsite.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

Could some one hlep? I just want to install this software...is the whole program always this hard to work with???

You have to edit
mb_internal_encoding('UTF-8');

2 places in your install/index.php

were you able to get this installed on godaddy's servers? i have two clients who started out on godaddy and were not sucessful with the installation, and eventually moved over to my dedicated server. i tried to install on godaddy, but they do not give root access on the server i was trying to do the install on, and they were doing some pay for support package on the guys site, which was costing him dearly just to get support. the hosting package seemed affordable, but everytime you sent see more a ticket, they tagged his paypal account. crazy logic there huh. if you are still having issues, you can consider changing hosts. personally, i know it takes about 15 mins to do an install and no it should not be that hard.

if you read anything at all about dolphin/ray/orca prior to downloading the zip file, you would have noticed that they talk about where you are going to host it and that all servers are not compatible with this script, or as they put it, optimized for this script.
