Dolphin, Orca, Ray Media Server (RMS) hosting

stylesmith posted 5th of March 2008 in Community Voice. 23 comments.

We are new to Boonex products and we just launched our Dolphin community with Orca and Ray.  Long before we knew that Ray had specific technical requirements, we had signed up with a hosting provider that, in the end, could not support Ray features.  Because our site needs those features, I went on a search for hosting providers that can support Ray.  I already knew about HostForWeb (HFW) because it's promoted on the Boonex related sites and forums and based on Boonex relationship with HFW, I trusted that they would be fine also. However, I knew that there had to be more providers out there.  So, I searched inside and outside of Expertzzz.  I did find several others that could meet the requirements outside of HFW, but then I came across the name, CyberXing, somewhere in the Expertzzz sites and decided to learn more about them and contacted them. Well, I can say now that I am so happy that I contacted them.

Right from the beginning before we were their customer, CyberXing was already very helpful.  During my first live chat with them, I could tell right away that they understood Boonex applications well.  On their website's product and services section, it says "you're never alone, full boonex support" and they are not kidding. Since we are novices, we had a lot of questions and we quickly learned that CyberXing's has a lot of knowledge and experience with Boonex products. On top of that, their hosting products are very reasonably priced.  Also, they have an economical RMS media server connection product called 3rd Rail.  This gives you the bandwidth and power to use all the Ray features on your site without having to host and install and manage Ray directly on your own server. For a low price, you get to use their RMS.

We now have our community on their servers for hosting which has allowed my site to open much faster than at all our former hosts. We also have their 3rd Rail RMS service. CyberXing's support has been attentive and quick to respond to my questions.  Although, all support questions and issues are submitted through their ticket system, it has not been an issue. Their response through their ticket system is faster than many other support ticket based hosting providers that I've ever used.  When neccessary, they will use the phone and/or live chat to help you.

Another great aspect about CyberXing is that they install the community scripts for you!  I needed this badly because I am not a programmer and I had already struggled with installing Dolphin alone on my previous hosting server and couldn't get the MySQL database to connect even though I was entering the correct information. So, CyberXing took away the frustration of script installation and database connection.

So, if you are looking for a host for your online community, I would highly recommend taking a look at www.CyberXing.com .

You are not suppose to use this blog to advertise your website or your products. Please dont waste people's time reading all the nonsense. People here are smart enough to know what is good and what is not.
The title at the top of the page says "Stylesmith's blog"

I think if a satisfied customer wants to give a good word it's just as appropriate as it is for some one walking around with a police whistle in his mouth all day.

Glad to hear you had a good experience stylesmith and are happy with Boonex now.

I would agree that these blogs are NOt for promoting services and such, it is to provide advice and suggestions for future advancments of boonex products.

I do however agree with CyberXing service. Yes, CyberXing is a good service and I have not heard any complaints with them as of yet.

But lets try to keep on topic here.

stylesmith - We are glad to have you as a part of our family.

rednerus - I think the others answered what I would have said as well, I do believe peoples blog space can be used in the manner to either assist other users and members in that way.

We are big supporters of Boonex, and we contribute alot back to the forum, support, and to developers, having customers reflect theres experiences with any provider is a vital part of having a successful community.

Simion - I agree as well, although see more I do believe peoples experiences with companies is needed to help others as well.

Regards,

CyberXing

Thanks for the feedback. I wrote my post to feedback about my experience, NOT to advertise for someone. I am a satisfied customer and I have not been compensated by anyone. I know that when I have been searching the Boonex related sites for info to help me, I was looking for info like this so I wrote this to help others in case they are in the same situation and need to evaluate services. There have been many other posts in Unity and Expertzzz that have surely helped me, so I wanted to share my experience see more to help others.

i will iterate something i read posted by Sammie, there are no written rules on here as to what you can post. and where i wouldn't read something i thought was a promotional plug, i did read this post, and found it interesting, and thought it was appropriate. i too provide hosting dolphin/ray/orca , but do not ever advertise it on here, i posted once i think in the store thingo, but that was a waste of time. at any rate, i feel you were right in posting this information on here, after all this is see more a blog, not a thesis paper.

good job CyberXing, and thank you stylesmith

Their after sales support is CRAP. I signed up with them. I got all the invoice etc. They do not have any phone or email. Thier support ticket is disabled. Now I have spent money and still my site is sitting down as i dont have the settings for their RMS, i searched all over their site. Can someone tell me what is the rms address.

I tried rms.cyberxing.com but it is not able to take in the 'om' character. I think I can enter limited character.

I have signed up but there is nothing in the knowledge base! I signed up for an rms for ray widgets, but no idea where to find the info to add it to rms on ray widgets, no server address. Please help. I have sent a ticket, but no reply.

It's great to hear other's feedback and experiences. This is what is wonderful about these types of forums and I feel it helps others. We are still with CyberXing for our hosting and RMS. I believe they did have a rough period where their response was lengthy or lacking due to their move, company changes, etc. but seem fine now and response has been fine. In fact, just about 1 hour ago, I submitted a urgent support ticket through their site and they replied back literally within 15 minutes and see more resolved the issue.

My $0.02 ... cyberxing is affordable, and their responses are friendly and helpful. They definitely know their way around Boonex products. But it is also true that they sometimes answer tickets late or not at all, which IMO means they're probably too busy. Today I checked & apparently their site got hacked, so I'm looking for alternate RMS vendors.

Just a warning cyberXing transferred their RMS Hosting to Terabyte Hosting.

DO NOT HOST WITH Terabyte!!!

Not only has their support been very rude, short, and condensing to me, they decided to dishonor my prepaid annual hosting fee that was all ready in place with cyberXing. Here's the kicker, I had only 3 months remaining and at their rate amounts to $24.00. Rather than honor me with $24.00 and my future business, they told me to find another host.

Here's the proof: http://www.coltsdigital.com/support.pdf

Good see more thing I found out now what kind of a business they are before I do something stupid like move more of my business to them.

YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!

What's up with hosting! Is anyone supporting rms anymore? Is anyone actually supporting Dolphin anymore? I am not getting any good feedback about hosting for this product. All I get from Boonex is, check the hosting link on the unity site, or the community...when I contact the community, all I get are links to hosts that are not in business anymore, or lousy! What's up? Hope someone has had some good experience with hosting for Boonex that they can share!
I know that our responses have been long and few between, but alot has been going on behind the currents.

We will begin offering a new service for RMS and Dolphin based communities starting in the next couple of weeks.

We will be sure to keep everyone posted, and to all prior CyberXing customers (happy and unhappy) we will extend a private testing and trial of our new services at your request.

CyberXing
