all I can say is i like the design of dolphin 6 much better.......photos ...videos and music are all crammed over to the left and what makes a profile exciting is the photos and so on.....not all the comments.....the six layout is nice because you can flip through a good ten photos of the member and you get to see a large photo on the page of the member at all times....the one you choose.......you should have a video player built into the profile page too so you dont have to navagate away from the see more profile to play the videos.......this would make the profile come alive.......it looks dead and boring......i suggest getting rid of the stupid avatar thing........sorry folks but you are making it way to hard to see the photos of the members and watch there videos.......you have to work way to hard to get photos up in your profile and then you can't even zoom in ........your getting way to many features.......wouldn't it be great to see about 10 thumbnails and flip through them with out leaving the page in full view.....and wouln't it be great to see the thumnails (decent size) of the videos and be able to play them right on the page......I think you have to leave the profile about 10 times before you get a jest of the person....
Photos: we're making another adjustment - when someone uploads an avatar it'd be also added to the profile photos, so it would work almost the same way as it did before. THe catch is that avatars is a system module, while "Photos" is optional. SOme sites may want to work without photos at all, but the script will still want avatars here and there.
Flipping through thumbnails on profile home does work - just try to add a few pics to "Profile Photos" album.
As for playing see more video "in place"... need more tinkering...
I agree with Jerismith. D7 is looking nice at first sight but is quickly boring to browse (that I call deficient "HCI" (Human - Computer interaction)) or "Ergonomics").
Avatar is really a bad idea, at least at is working now.
I'd like an option in the Admin Panel - Settings Advanced Settings: "Force Profile Photo Upload" enable / disable
If "Force Profile Photo Upload" is enable:
- replace the Avatar uploader with a mandatory Profile Photo uploader see more in the Join form
- redirection to the Avatar crop tool displaying the Profile Photo ready to be croped...
I noticed more issues reported again then I expected in D7 B3. I think this weekly chain process ( beta1 - fixes - beta2 - fixes ... betaN) might delay things a bit. We all understand the ultimate goal for Boonex is to have a 100% bug-free D7 but from a webmaster's perspective this wait seems never-ending.
Most webmasters are not deploying the beta versions since their's no upgrade path. I think it would be nice to have a 90-95% stable release candidate (RC1) asap that people can deploy and get see more going with their sites and then an upgrade could be supported for all following RCs or Gold versions. Personally, I don't think there would be much changes in the db schema once RC1 is released.
Nah.......I like the new versions coming out.....just think there should be and upgrade path too! : ) my designer is tired of reuploading so know what you mean but we are just holding off and picked a dating software to work with and will use this for our Sacramento community site.........if there had been an update path we would of stuck with it
Well I try to post in forum but get lost in their...sorry...hoping the avatar will be in the admin section when browsing through member admin profiles
Also, the picture viewer should not change sizes depending on the photos...to hard to keep moving mouse to click next button....if you cant agree to make the photo viewer bigger keep it as large as you can and let the photo change sizes in the viewer....
To keep customers happy in the future I am sure you will be creating a "business version" see more for those whose focus is not on the person in the profile.....but in the mean time.....community and dating sites are about the person in the profile and it is nice not to navagate away from the page to learn about them....
glad I am not designing this and you are though!!! : )
to many complaints to hear about all day!!!!! chin up
Can't wait for the video player to load in the profile page though........this along with the other features of the boonex...software wil make Sacramento a much funner place to meet people......can't wait! ; ) hoping the audio player will end up back in the profile too.........maybe they will just have two different versions to suit all needs...
Hey Jerismith, i agree with you as per watching videos right there on a person's profile page. you still can make it happen, here's how: if you have the myspace mod installed in your site which lets you post html codes, all you have to do is upload your videos at youtube and simply embed your youtube channel's code in your profile. that way, when some one comes to your profile, they can watch your videos right there without leaving your profile. you can check out my site and my profile to see what see more i'm talking about. Hope this helps. FriendsWeCan.Com [http://www.friendswecan.com]
K...my sites r datingoncam.com but having to build that in other software and hating it because I wanted dolphin..... i also have www.saccam.com for a sacramento community in dolphin waiting for 7 to see if I want 6 checking out your site now.
Thanks for the update. Although D7 excels D6 in many ways, I must agree with Jerrismith's comments with the "avatar, profile photos, videos and navigation." Avatars are passe; people want to see photos. The photo thumbnails are too small while the "sound or music with a small note icon are larger." Photo thumbnails should be equal to video/sound/music thumbnail size. Further, in Photos/browse/all, I find it insignificant that the pixel size of the thumbnail is displayed. What see more is the purpose of it? Have a link (contact, IM, flirt, wink, etc)of some sort instead.
Member Profile should include video/sounds/photos in same page. It is rather cumbersome to navigate through a member's profile. People do not desire to spend a lot of time to view someone's profile/pictures/videos, etc. Everyone is on the fast track nowadays.
Photos/Videos/Sounds per page view should be configured where the page is uniformed. Example: row/thumbnails 6 x column/thumbnail 3 = 18 and so on; not 14 per page view.
The All Members page is too crammed with the tine thumbnails. Also, a pop up on mouse over of the name of the country should be included on browse by country.
A location map should be included within the profile for better insight of members location.
Keep up the good work and hopefully the final release may be complete in lets say October?
I would love to know why my comment has been deleted, It's because I dare to criticize a admin or you guys just hate free speech..?
I was just telling that VictorT is deleting blog posts of members that want to help, but for some reason if he did not like the subject the post must vanish from it's sight.. Come one Andrew this is how you want your community? Silent and scared to write bug reports/ideas?
I don't think I've broken any rule, if I did please tell me what it is..
We're enforcing Rules. Comments should be "on-topic". We believe that complaints about admins have nothing to do with the post about online demo. Should you be willing to discuss that - open a forum thread.
We have no problems with freedom of speech, but we set out rules for what you should post in particular areas of _our_ site. It's like if you stand up in a library and start screaming about your sexual rights - the place is not designed for that and you'd be asked to leave. If you see more leave a written note, it's likely to be thrown away. At the same time - you're free to express your opinion while at the street, or at home, or at a designated area of the library.
We do want bug reports. We do want opinions. We have proved our tolerance to critique. At the same time, we want to keep the discussion clear of overly-personal attacks or rumblings, for it takes too much of our time, and creates a vicious circle - we read > respond > get psyched > delay release / create bigs > customers get psyched > post provocative comments > we read ...
I agree 100% with flipper and a few of the others who say that avatars are out. Personally, I still like avatars, but the web has grown and radically developed itself while bandwith has been radically increased globally too. Avatars were cool when everyone was still concerned about image sizes or when photo sizes were still too big of a deal for online albums and such. These days, most people don't care about those things anymore since only video and music take up wads of bandwidth/server space. see more So, keep it modern and cool, by sticking with the latest stuff like big photos, embedded videos, and song libraries.
On the other hand, for all those who still like the idea of an avatar, why not include that as a toggle on/off switch for each user ... but at much greater size (like the profile photos). That might even generate some pretty cool avatars, when members begin to include/upload large cartoon images from the internet. Could be quite entertaining ...
I am glad everyone agrees with this avatar thing....KEEP IT SIMPLE.......is the key......it is hard enough to get members to upload photos...but now avatars too? Think like an end user...not a programmer and make things easy. If you really want to come out with some great stuff listen to these ideas "That I don't mind sharing"
Put a live video chat section in the groups section.
I am not going to allow every user on the planet to ad a group so it does not become jumbled...but will see more allow members a suggestion box for a new group they would like added......certaingly don't want some stupid name like "but huggers" or something ending up in my groups......but back to the point.....MAKE A CHAT SECTION..FOR THE MEMBERS IN GROUPS....so if you open horseback riding persay....there is a chat section in there...and you can see all members........pain in the but to look through forums.......GET HIGH tech and let people chat live in their
ALSO........Boonex if you could do this you would be amazing........Make the persons camera allowed on their PROFILE.....this way if you want to search people live online you can just search for "people live on webcam" and people know who they can chat with
............not everyone who is online is in a chatroom and would'nt it be ten times better than looking at a photo...........
I know i am a forward thinker......but wouldn't it be nice..: )
Also.......just one last note.......give us everyday!!! SMILE ; )You guys are great

Well everyone hear knows that you suck the big one so knowing you don't like it is even better........negative people don't get far in life and you certainly only have a closed mind. Why not call you.......uuuuhhhhhh........Houston the dickhead
