Dolphin 7 (Hookie). Alpha Build 17. Downloadable
Meet the new Hookie Alpha Build 17 today. The most interesting and important features of this build are the new design and functionality of the Administration panel.
Let's look what changes and features we have overall in this Build.
- New Admin design and functionality. Administration panel with all its modules are rewritten completely.
- Administrator is now a regular user with admin privileges.
- Tags section is added to the main menu, so now you may browse tags.
- Cron jobs system. You can now manage them through the Admin panel.
- Files sharing module is added.
- Store module is added.
- Ajax chat module is added. You can chat with people from the member toolbar while browsing the site.
- New Ajax Shoutbox module is added replacing the old Flash one.
- Polls module is completely rewritten.
- Events module is improved. Browse through each event to see the participants, photos and videos of the venue.
- Forum module is integrated into Events and Store, so every particular event or store can be discussed in it's own area.
Browse Source and Install. Starting from today you are free to download the development version of Dolphin 7 (Hookie) Alpha from public SVN.
BUT, since it turned out that the download from SVN is a little bit complicated for usual users we prepared a separate archive of the latest revision (revision date 12.06.09) from SVN.
Therefore, you can take advantage of this and install it to try out the Administration panel. Before you install it, we have some important recommendations and notes for you:
1) DO NOT INSTALL OR UPGRADE YOUR LIVE SITES WITH THIS VERSION. NO FURTHER IN-BETWEEN UPGRADES OF THIS VERSION WILL BE AVAILABLE.
2) It is a development version. Therefore, there can be errors during the installation process or some modules are completely non-operational, etc.
3) SVN is updated on a regular basis several times a day. So, if there are errors in your installation you may wait and download a newer version some hours later.
4) There is no development and therefore no SVN updates during weekends.
Overall, much to see and touch here and there in this build.
UPD: This Dolphin 7 Hookie Alpha is for general preview of the Administration panel only.
Bug reports are not accepted at the moment. We will accept bug reports when the Beta version is out.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.

Will this be made available online in a public server so we can all test it?
OR, is there anyone who would let me poke around their install? Preferably one that has RMS enabled? I would truly love to get in and look. No need to tinker right now.

YAY! I getz to play!
Photo Module...am not allowed to change permissions. Keeps coming up with 077 when I try to change to 777.
Plus a few other cmod changes which are not taken care of by install.
Several modules being installed call sql errors (all different) Not sure at this point if it is worth mucking around in the sql. Someone should let us know.
Until this can be fixed, it is not worth testing further.
carnytown.... Some of the folder permissions to install Modules need changing per module, also some Modules do have minor Mysql errors which I managed to fix for my version of MySql. All my modules are now installed.

Install was a breeze and everything seems to be working well so far.
The navigation menu builder goes allll the way across my browser lol but looking at everything else.
@superbus the ffmpeg.exe should not be the only file needed for permission sets as i use hostgator on a resellers account.
You will run into some permission issues when installing modules.
Awsome job on the redesign of the admin panel...so easy to navigate and long lists are now collapsible which is nice.

I am leaning towards liking the whole module thing and it reminds me of many other scripts. However, there is no explanation to what they do. As a long time Dolphin user some of them I am kind of expecting what they do. But to someone new, this is going to confuse the heck out of them if there isn't a little documentation or at the very least a brief see more
BUG- On profile page age is correct, however on dashboard homepage it shows one yr older and is therefore incorrect...

When you are logged in on the admin/user account...and go into your site tab. You can add a site but it doesnt show up under your profile sites. however the site has been submitted but when u view the page. it shows that the person that submitted it name as "Admin" instead of the username of the account u used to submit it. hope u understand if not feel free to contact me.

in the installation when I get to that level and I set the folder /inc/ to 755 I get an error of permission folder
Have test the forum, and working perfect without any problem. Some modules have troubles by installing them some database error in line 5.

Not sure what your setup is in terms of hosting access but if xslt is off you need to enable it by re-compiling php with support with it. If not you can ask your host to do so for you. Don't make sense that your current version works and this new one wouldn't. Xslt is needed mostly for the forums.

Its a lot of work since you need to download each file, but it gets you going a little faster :-)

I did upload D7 files using binary.
Since my site is at the beginning stage, so I deleted all the D6 files. And I noticed that if I just entered
http://www.mysite.com, it also shows up the D7 installation page. I wonder that D6 is not cleaning all, there is still somethings there, such as re-routing.

BxTemplTagsView.php is calling for BxBaseTagsView.php which is a missing file
alot of buttons are not working when using IE

Using IE u can't compose, send, or reply to mail messages on the site...however they work fine in firefox.
IE maybe used to be the most popular in the world but not no more.

It is regarded as a little less safe, but if the your site works it's not a total hack prone configuration. Many sites have url include on.
So if your site works then this isn't a huge risk or deal. Something to think about though in the future.

I just looked at the trac and unless someone sends some high powered espresso or extra programmers, it may not happen. I am suspending a lot of my site development until I can get a date. I know it is still "up in the air" so to speak so I am not looking for an exact, but sadly the goal is only about 23% or so according to the trac. Any updates on the beta release and then the eventual feature final release?
