Overall Review Of The Online Demo So Far:

OMG…! WOW…! OMG…! This project has come so far…! The testing process with getting all of us involved has been great..! I have seen some of my recommendations for fixes and suggestions actually come to like and I know others can see that too. That’s great..! I am running a little behind as I took a few days off for my birthday. But I am going to download right now and install on my dedicated server and see more continue to play.

Love the new way the promo works. This really empowers the webmaster swap things up on the fly very easily. The only suggestion I would have for this is it would be nice to be able to associate a URL with any given promo image for maximum effectiveness of this promo are. For example a webmaster may have one of the promo images of say The Invite Your Friends mod that is out there and you want to point the members to that area. A webmaster also may be cross marketing with another site and want to be able to send members to another site.

Oh by the way. The admin side page builders OMG..! That is kick but looking…! I am however still not sure how to add a new page and actually create content for that page and publish it. Or maybe what I am thinking only belongs in the articles section. Not sure.

Here Are My Review Notes So Far:

Front End Search:

Members > Search >Couples When the search results are returned for couples from this point the short description only lists the Male and the Males Age. There is no information about the other half of the couple for some reason. I know I pointed this out in the Alpha and the Beta versions. This is also happening in Ray Chat & Messenger. Basically if you’re a couple you are appearing in search results with on the short description of one half of the couple.

Members > Search >Single then either don’t select a country or select a country that has a lot members the returned search results feels very slow. Same is true if you check Single and either Male or Female. If I narrow the search by putting an age range or return result with photos this speeds up. But I think the reason the speed for say all Males or All Females or if you had a lot of Couples is so slow is because the search results is trying to drop all the members it finds into a single page instead of only returning say the first 20 and then have to click on a page for the next to. Keep in mind the larger a site becomes the more this will become a serious problem if the results are not limited to a certain amount per page. In addition, you want to keep in mind if we have elected to use the zip code option for search we also want to return the starting with the members closest to the zip entered or the member doing the searches zip code.

Members > Search >Couples Then check on Male box the search results returns all couples. However if I Choose Couples and then check the box for Female the search results returns no couples. It seems to me the search is tied to the male and not treating the profile as a couple for some reason.

Front End SEO Stuff:

Front End Home Page:

Front End Blogs:
Blogs > Then navigate to any members blog and you will see that every blogs Page Title for the blog says My Blog instead of Members Name Blog. The problem with the current approach is that Google and many other bots will look at your community as it grows as having a ton of pages that all start with the same thing such as My Blog.

Front End Groups:
Groups>Activities>Fish Tank> Then if you Huber your mouse over the image or link to the group gallery you will see that they are not SEO http://www.boonex.us/grp.php?action=gallery&ID=64

Front End Classifieds:
Classifieds>Cars For Sale>All the sub categories Page Titles start with the word “Filter:” and then list the category. Better to drop that Filter: part so that each category is begins unique. Then click on any of the ads and observer that Pages Title. They all say “Offer Details” Once again we are telling the search bots don’t look any further or care much about these pages as they are all kind of the same. Front End Events:

Forums> Should that root Page Title say Orca? Not sure maybe this is something to do with how it was titled in the admin side. As long as its changeable. But I don’t want my competition getting any kind of indication of what products I am using.

Front End Articles:
Articles>When navigating to an article category or an individual article none of the Page Titles change to represent that category and/or article.

As a suggestion sometimes the fastest way to find those pesty little non SEO links is to use a good Search Engine Bot Simulator. Then you can quickly look at the URL List as well as the titles and patterns that match those URLs because trust me when I say this the Google’s of the word. One of the things I always try and tell people is “ Become the Bot. See as if you were the bot” Bottom line is in the completive net we have today you have to do everything you can to make sure you get found. You can have the best site in the world but if nobody ever finds you then your site is not a success. You can have the ugliest site in the world and if everyone finds you then you are a success. Craigslist.org is an example of that jut go and check out their Alexia Rankings. But its nice if you can have both.

Yes I spend a lot of time understanding and testing Organic Search and have even been guest speaker at internet conferences as well as I have been part of Google’s Fedex club. Google even sends me Christmas presents every year and sometimes special Google stuff for my birthday. I know there are some of you out there that know what I am talking about and for those that don’t sorry… Got to be in the club to understand.

The only other thing I would suggest from an SEO perspective is to take all the general links that are at the very TOP and the very Bottom such as these and put a no follow tag on them or come up with a different way so Google and others pay no attention to those pages compared to the ones you want them to. Links News Contact Us About us Privacy Terms FAQ Add feedback Invite a friend Bookmark

Because these kinds of pages are normally of no importance for SEO search however just about every webmaster out there forgets that you are losing or leaking PR over on these pages as they are on every single page of the site and most algorithms factor this in for scoring. And think about it if those links are on every page you are telling a bot these pages must be very important. They are but not for search results. Better to distribute your PR on pages that matter the most so they rank higher.

Admin Side:
CC Bill: I notice I click on the payment provider instructions it says “No Instructions Available Yet” Does CC Bill work and has it been tested yet. I also noticed it looks like it has no recurring support. The reason this is so important to so many people is that CC Bill is the only payment provider you have in your list that will support any kind of adult related payment collection. Some people will try and use payment providers like PayPal but if they find out according to their agreements you could lose the $$ they have collected. Also most adult or even community sites do need recurring payment support as you don’t want to try and chase your members down to collect all the time.

very nice. I would like to recommend a few things that could make it better.

1. admin-add meta and description. Many softwares has a function that lets you add different meta info for different pages.

2. admin-banner. Many other softwares has a function that let you choose which pages you want the banner to appear on.

In a glance i saw one more tiny problem (i had seen it and in the rc1) in admin/profile.php when you press: add a new profile the link does not do what it had to do... (in admin environment).

I really hope in this version the Multimedia Limits with Ray WORKS, because in my Dolphin6.003+Ray3.0 (AdFree) when I set the limit for Shared Multimedia - Its NOT works and Each of the members has possibility to add too many files. I have users with 50+ video files (when the limits are set to five) and thats really makes me mad!
By the way: anyone here knows how I can set the limit of these files and save some hard disk space? Where is my wrong? I use rms.boonex.com ? May be I need my own RMS? see more PLEASE Help me? Is that bug of D6 versions?

Problem wid editor box on mobile devices and opera mobile browser... In earlier dolphin versions...it used to show a simple editor box without edit buttons...but now there is no edit box...the editting buttons but the box is not displayed as an edit box. So we can't enter anything on pages like write new mail...
Hope it wud be fixed soon...

still some bugs
creating an event and if you do not have 50 symbols in description, then the error is coming telling not enough symbols and stays , you cannot change /add anything.

creating an event from within the admin give a database error.

and a new drop down selection field is created.
in the join form is days "Select It" instead of showing the Default, like it did in earlier versions, like Dolphin 5.2.

And in the profile is says _divorced
with the "_" infront see more of it on the join page and on the profile page.

Its a great script, but one very importent missing is that there are not categories for videos. Please make it so I make my super social website.

when I set video upload to 100 mb I stil get error with text "you can only upload not more then 2 mb" when I wanted to upload a bigger video then 2 mb.

I keep playing around on these demos and i never can figure out how to put the css code in to where i can make my profiles be like my-space. This is my main attraction to dolphin, i want my members to be able to do this. cant you just program the blocks in the program so if someone wants it. then it will be there for them to use. and if not they don't have to use it.

The HTML Page builder looks like a much needed feature! So far it doesn't seem to work though - when I drag an HTML Text block to a column, it won't "stick" - it just floats back to the All Items area. Bug or just not finished?

Very very nice improvements, great job Boonex. One suggestion....I think the ability to have Photo Albums is very important, and also to be able to upload multiple photos simultaneously. Also as a couple users have stated, video categories. Will these features be added in the future?

If you go to admin panel and click on USERS, then MEMBERS.. and if you want to "Add a new profile"
then you get one page with this content "Profile not specified."

In version 6.05 if you click on this link in admin area, you'll get one page where you can add a new profile. Is this a bug or this is something i just don't understand :D

If a site was to be configured to be used as a Hot or Not type website this would be a key feature.

-pathway visible above article title (and other sections) (Root->Category->Subcategory)
-automatic generated meta tags and description based on tags and first paragraph from article description
-a more powerful forum integrated by default (phpbb, smf etc)
-option to have articles, classifieds, groups (etc) categories names in multiple languages
-categories for music, video, photos
sections
-option to create sections see more (like sport, schools (found your colleges), jobs, books, a section for kids? for example) (as subdomains maybe?)
-a better banner system (including login for clients, graphics for number of visits, sources etc)
-speaking about ads and creating sections, how about a million pixel page with (paid) ads from community users ;)

When you are in forum:

the top menu is not working.
When you put the cursor up to an option eg:

found one bug, not sure though whether it is a bug or something else.When i click on my own profile i see 2 blocks of photo, one photo of my own and one photo of admin icon .On profile builders i dont see both of this blocks in active icons.Any ideas?

The fields builder doesn't support automatic keys adding for lists values. you have to add such keys like "_Single", "_Married", "_Divorced" manually.

The "Default" property means not the defaultly selected value on forms, but default value set into database if a user not set it.

Fields manager doesn't support default value for the forms. It will be implemented later.

This is KEY to using the software and I cant seem to get it to work properly.

The text selection dropdown field works well except there is a "_" at the beginning of a field.

and it puts "select it" in there.

I am running dolphin on a 8 core server with lots of memory.

Now, for some strange reason, some profiles are extremely slow.

Other profiles load fairly fast.

Anybody has any ideas?

Tried to contact support but no response... tried to contact my support person directly (will reserve his name for now) and no response for weeks.

I purchased the $1000 pack (propack?)

1)Albums(photo/video/music) are a MUST in community sites (as well as SEO urls and other very smart features you already intergrated in Dolphin)
2)Problem appears to computers that have QTime installed (maybe the browser plugin is the suspect).Instead of having a "Download" button on the player you could just put a link under the "Embed Code" etc. or else the media file will be opened in browser.(no right click works in the flash player)

in the blog feature when you add post- the option "Insert / edit embedded" is not available as functionality in the post text toolbar ..
also it is not available in the post text toolbar of the articles and news .., please can you set this functionality ( "Insert / edit embedded") on those?..

to add a new link in to the links section - it is mandatory to start it with the (http://) acronym, so this is an usability issue, please can you set the (http://) acronym by default at the beginning of the URL box or otherwise, to permit that a link works well without the http://.

Loaded 6.1RC2 + Ray 3.5RC2 on test site...everything is working well with exception of getting 404 error pages for photos, videos, music, classified pages. What causes 404 errors? Any help would be appreciated.

Seems to be a bug of some kind in the Join form for couples. Can't seem to use mutual zipcode fields for both persons. this forces you to enter the zipcode twice

I am not sure if I am doing this right or if its a bug.

But I tried to create a second page join form block description for addtional info. The only thing that showed up on my second page was the title of my second page description and a submit button. then when I hit submit it fails.

But the goal that I was trying to create was addtional description blocks on the second page of the join form.

dolphin is the greatest software i've seen yet. absolutely hands down. if only you could edit your search options according to the type of community you are serving. such as music, or types of artist, or even military ranks.
for example "i am a...Model...looking for...A Photograher"

Am I the only person who can't post a topic to a Groups forum? I've compiled languages, compiled Orca, and no such luck...

If someone has posted a solution to this problem, and I've overlooked it, please point me in the direction of the post...

Does anyone from Boonex know if this is going to be resolved before the final 6.1 release. I have brough this to everyones attention multible times since the Alpha version and couples profiles are not actually funtioning as a TRUE couples profile without this fixed.


Front End Search:

Members > Search >Couples When the search results are returned for couples from this point the short description only lists the Male and the Males Age. There is no information about the other half of the see more couple for some reason. I know I pointed this out in the Alpha and the Beta versions. This is also happening in Ray Chat & Messenger. Basically if you’re a couple you are appearing in search results with on the short description of one half of the couple.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but I'm seeing the same thing in 6.0.0005 and just checked in the demo of 6.1RC2...

When in the Admin area - clicking on "Users" and then "Affiliates".. then clicking directly on "Dashboard" takes you directly to the 'Affiliate' Admin section; which you're not necessarily logged into.

Also; not sure if this has been addressed in 6.1RC2, but when a Member signs up as an Affiliate, it is not recorded in the 'aff_members' see more database table; this is in 6.0.0005.

Like I said; not sure (hoping so) if this has been addressed in 6.1RC2

Also, why is it recommended that an already set IPN in a PayPal account be deleted when setting the IPN 'notify_url' option in the PayPal submission form; (which is how Dolphin works); over-rides the setting set in the PayPal account?

Coincidently, the documentation for PayPal also states that the 'return_url' form option is set to paypal.php; when in fact it is set to members.php

Finally, regarding the built-in Affiliate module... there is very little; if any; documentation regarding it... does the Affiliate's URL set a cookie on the client browser? If so, how long? Or is this a last-cookied-last-referer type cookie set up?

On the News page http://www.boonex.us/news.php, hiting any of the 2 News title just has no effect coz the link's path is http://www.boonex.us/news.php too.
In 6.0000x the path when hiting such News title was something like http://www.boonex.us/news_view.php?ID=1

In the profile view page, in the block MISC INFO (i.e.: http://www.boonex.us/MichelSwiss) alignement of the infos seems to be not correct (about 20px more on the right than the line just above).
If adding more lines in this block (i.e. Country) under City, I suspect that each line will move more and more to the right...

Something wrong with the links in the Orca top menu.
For example, hiting the link News produce a 404 error coz the path looks like that: http://www.boonex.us/groups/orca/news.php

I am testing 6.1RC2 on my test server and want to create multiple descriptions for the join for different information. But I seem to be unable to create these with large enough boxes like the default description box where someone would want to write a description. Does anyone know how to do this?

Also, I would like to be able to possible put these extra descriptions on page two of the join form but been unsuccessful at this also.

Any help so I can more thoroughly test this would be kindly see more appreciated.

Ok.. for the 3rd time... how do I properly create profile fields with text dropdown selection. so they dont have "_" infront of the fields and so the default first word is used.

This works perfectly in v5.2 but not in this version, so how can I manually do it please?

For example
Choose your Hair Colour:
Blonde
Redhead
Brunette

Shows up as:
Choose your Hair Colour:
"Select it!"
_Blonde
_Redhead
_Brunette

This is the last thing I have to fix to get a working see more copy. What is the best way to do this PLEASE?

ALL Require the use of Selection Fields!

"Select It!" is not a good default
and the program adds "_" to the beginning of the fields

that workes like the articles page in admin but i can put articles in any one of them that give the user a chose to put there articles in any one of them so can some one help me on that?
