Can't change main logo, help!

I can't change the main logo for my site. I still have the dolphin logo there and when I upload a .gif file it doesn't change. Can someone please help me, thanks.

i have only a text string saying "logo"
any ideas?

don't upload directly new logo to media/images!!! go to admin panel -> basic setings and upload your logo :)
