Bug Reporting On Unity

theguypc posted 21st of July 2009 in Community Voice. 9 comments.

A number of people are reporting bugs in the comments of Unoboonex's latest blog regarding the upcoming Beta 2 release.

They apparently don't know that there is a forum set up for these reports. =D

If you come across a bug in the Beta of Dolphin 7 it should be reported HERE - The sooner, the better. This way it has a very good chance of being seen and added to the next build.

Remember, the more information you can provide - the better chance that it can be verified and added to Trac for repairs.

Some things you can do to help the verification & fix process along:

1. Double check it to make sure it is a consistent bug

2. Check it with other browsers and report any differences when possible.

3. Clearly identify the problem. Do not use vague descriptions / references.

4. Explain any steps that need to be taken to see the bug. Don't assume that others will know what you mean automatically. ; )

5. Define page that the bug is located. e.g. "index.php".

6. Take screen shots if possible. This is a huge help.

7. Report it to the Beta Forum and watch to see if there are questions about it.

8. Report the fix if you know of one.

9. Check back on it to see that it was posted to Trac. HoustonLively has been putting messages in bug threads that say it has been added, along with the ticket number.

10. Smile and know that you made a difference! :o )

PLEASE NOTE: These are just my own personal thoughts on the subject and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of Boonex.

one thing that i would like to add to this, first of all good post. and this should be a sticky post from the management. at any rate, you reference taking a screenshot. just want to clarify with all that in order to take a screen capture you do not need any special programs or utilities. there is a key on your keyboard, (pc's) that says prt scr or print screen. tap this key once, go to start run, type mspaint. right click on the mspaint window and paste. you will see your screen capture come to see more life. now crop what you need and save it as, but watch out on this as mspaint tries to save everythingg as bmp, please save as jpg or png.

an alternative to mspaint, is to download and install irfanview located here:

http://download.cnet.com/IrfanView/3000-2192-10021962.html?part=dl-IrfanView&subj=dl&tag=button

this is a pretty decent tiny editor where you can add graphics and text to the image.

at any rate, just thought i would help out on this one.

Please post the bug reports in the designated location specified by andrew.

There is a really great list of screen capture utilities at the URL below too

http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-screen-capture-utility.htm

There is something to suit anyone's tastes on the page you will go to. It's the best list I've seen anywhere on the web.

Users can add their picks too - which makes it even better.
